Trying to lose weight

I really need to give it a go.

I was bouncing from mania to depression for years and between the lack of sleep/need for food and the bulimia (that I’ve given up hopefully forever this time) I kept my weight off. It was alright. Somewhere along the lines my mood switched to a state of …well whatever it is I’ve finally just woken up. Like I was in a trance for a year. And I’ve gained at least 40-50 lbs. I fear I’ll never get the weight off or I’ll turn to bulimic tendencies. I really need to stay sane and leveled out long enough to feel like a normal, healthy person again.

Anyone currently trying to shed some weight?

Yes. I need to lose at least 40-50 lbs. To be within what is considered healthy and not overweight, 90-100 lbs. It is hard. But I’m hoping to lose a least a little.

It’s such a struggle. Today I woke up with the intention of eating well and staying active and not binging. It helps when I wake up in this mindset. My mornings really set the tone for my day.

I hope you’re having an enjoyable day. Drink plenty of water! It’s a great start

I put on a little, but if I don’t get a grip on it, it will be a lb a month till it is out of control, I only need to loose about 10 lbs now

There was a time where I was thinking okay I’m getting chubby some of my clothes are snug. And bam now I’m like scurrying around my bedroom picking up unfolded clothes out of baskets praying I find SOMETHING that fits me. It’s such a depleting feeling to know you have to start all over again at something I worked hard to maintain for years.

I’m 180 lbs, I like to be 165 - 170 lbs, but anything over that goes right to my gut

I weigh 180lbs right now. For me I feel comfortable around 140-150. Spring time is around the corner. I think there’s a natural switch that makes me want to get moving and eating lighter foods around the warm months so I’m hoping it starts to fall off a bit. Maybe just to give me confidence to shower and dress myself and eventually leave my home, go running or out with friends. Standing in my house alone all day just leads to eating bread. Lots of bread.

Are there any activities or exercises you enjoy? I used to love running.

I’m trying to lose or at least maintain. Like @Mountainman says, need to keep a grip on it before its out of control. Myfitnesspal app is very helpful. I’m within 10# of my goal weight.

@StripedShirtBoy nice to meet a fellow Canadian.

What helped me lose weight was eating veggies and boiled chicken. As much as you want. 3 times a day. I lost about 3 pounds a week.

Right! It just becomes like part of our annual routine. It’s cold so I get fat. It’s hot so I get thin. We need to move somewhere that only has warm seasons haha

I really liked MFP as well. When I’m using it. I needed to lose 90lbs at one time in my life and MFP was great. Plus it’s really nice to open an app that reminds me I did come a long way.

I’ve managed to lose about 14 kg (> 30 lbs) since July last year but I’m not sure how  The turning point was when I decreased my AP from 15mg to 10mg, then 5mg. The hunger pangs just disappeared. Now I’ve upped it back to 10mg and so far I still eat in moderation.

Eh!️:canada:

I bought a ton of asparagus and broccoli the other day. Maybe I’ll have it pre cooked in the fridge so I can snack on it. Thanks for the tip!

What provinces are the two of you in? I don’t want to get into the details of which city. :slightly_smiling_face:

I don’t mind telling you. I live about two hours north of Toronto, Ontario.

It’s a really small town I live in. If I told you I bet you could venture there, tell someone my name and they’d point to my house. Haha

@StripedShirtBoy " I fear I will never get the weight off". I think it’s possible but it won’t happen quickly that’s all. For me I have to remain patient and not go back into comfort eating loop. With time the brain will be retrained and so it might get easier. Good luck u can do it!

Ah, a Maple Leafs fan. I’m on the west coast of Canada. :slightly_smiling_face:

The comfort eating is such a comfort though.
