I’ve gained a lot since I first took medication, particularly abilify, and was wondering if anyone has any good tips/diets/really whatever that could help me lose weight or at least improve health. I know my motivation is poor so exercise over long periods is hard but I want to at least try x thanks for the help
For a start you have to really want to loose weight and have right attitude
You could start by cutting out and cutting down
For example after my main meal of the day I used to have cerial at night and I was very bloated now I have cut that out just water at evening
Have chicken meals with veggies ( perhaps invest in a steamer)
I ate whatever I wanted and still do, I just pushed my body a lot with 2 runs a day five days a week. Attitude helps, eating healthy will do your body good but ONLY exercise will lose you weight effectively,
You should really try intermediate fasting it helps burns fat off quick and you can eat whatever you like.
You know ive been hearing a lot of good things about fasting!
Tomorrow im starting eating healthy, up to 1300 calories a day. Im using www.sparkpeople.com meal plans and will track calories there. You need to be stubborn and consistent to lose the weight in long term… It takes a while!
I’ve had my best success tracking calories and weight at www.myfitnesspal.com – good apps for phones and tablets too. If you join the site PM me and I’ll shoot you a link to my profile if you want support.

Ketogenic diet with leafy greens included. It’s not only good for healthy weight, but for a healthy mind
Isn’t that extreme? I don’t really understand how it works
Cut out sugary drinks. Eat smaller portions. Cut back on junk food, greasy and fatty foods.
This worked for me, hope this helps
You basically stop eating for a long period of time 16-20 hours and while your not eating and on an empty stomach your body burns fat, after youre done fasting you can eat whatever you want
When do you not eat though is it like one day don’t eat or do you count hours your asleep or at least in bed
Just did workout which is meant to burn 1000 calories but took out bum kicks burpees and jumping jacks (due to injury can’t do them) so won’t have burned quite so many felt good though
I find that there is no easy way around it. You have to eat a balanced diet and exercise if you want to lose weight. It also must be less calories than you consume. For example, say you run 3.5 miles and are a 180lb 5’7in male, 22 and low BMI (very muscular, so much that it’s technically overweight). You need to eat about 2,000 kcal to stay 180lbs. Any more, and it gets stored. And less, and you burn body fat and possibly muscle mass unless you are on a high protein diet.
If you are 180lbs like me but it’s not good muscle and instead mostly fat, you would want to not even try running, that will just get you an injury. You would want to eat 1200kcal a day and do some sort of cardio, like cycling or an elliptical machine for about 45minutes every day. If not, then longer. And dont be smoking to lose weight. I went from like 9% to 12% bodyfat when I quit smoking, I have to flex or cough for someone to see my abs, use to just walk around shirtless like a little Narcissus. Smoking is bad. People might tell you smoking makes you lose weight, well they are correct, but it makes cardio very difficult and causes a whole bunch of health problems. It can give you heart problems and cancer. I would know, I used to smoke a little less than 2 packs a day, lifted weights, ate like an animal, and looked like a pro fighter. Pro fighters can run for more than 60 seconds. I just looked like one.
oh and the example 22 year old also does strength training 3x a week, thats why he is overweight with muscle.
Try and find an exercise routine you feel you can stick to. For me that is walking at least 10,000 steps a day. I have a pedometer to count
I’m trying so far going for two different one for days I over eat (which is 1000isj calories plus all walking that day) other is 100 but will do at least twice through, if that feels not enough will swap to ab workout which is 600ish calories also doing wall sit 30 day challenge so okay in that. Unfortunately I tend to binge so food is the bigger issue
Yes you count the hours you’re asleep as well
If you have an eating disorder, the advices like ‘cut the calories& exercise more’ don’t really work. Because there is a deeper problem and it first has to be acknowledged and discussed with a professional.
I don’t have an eating dusorder
Exercise is very important when trying to lose weight. You don’t have to train like a star athlete. Just try to find something not too difficult to do that will burn calories. That’s the way to lose weight the quickest.
