Losing weight

Is it possible to lose weight while eating right and maybe exercising on sz meds

Yes. Exercising and eating right really do make a difference. But it’s not easy, and APs make it harder. But you can do it if you put your mind to it!

@WesC84, I lost 50 pounds, while taking AP’s, by counting calories every day on MyFitnessPal.com I also never drink my calories. I drink only black, unsweetened coffee, and plain tap water and nothing else. I exercise every day doing something I love, which just happens to be yoga, but could be anything you choose. I limit my sweets too. I rarely to never eat salty/fatty snacks like chips. And I only eat between the hours of 530 am and 530 pm. I’ve kept all the weight off over the past four years using these tactics. My BMI is normal.

I think exercise is more important than diet but because of problems with motivation these things are hard, the meds make us tired so how can we exercise much? i’ve been trying to walk a bit more but i have a limit or tolerance of about 3 miles on a good day, on a very good day i can do 10000 steps

apart from that i am trying to do 15 minutes on a treadmill after lunch at my clubhouse, i’m trying to push myself when i have the time and motivation, so far i did 2 sessions, the first was 20 min but it was at a slow pace but it did have a bit of an incline, second was flat but faster for 15 min, its good watching my heart rate go up and down and the calorie counter is cool, i am trying to beat half a mile atm

My BMI is in normal range but I lost 10 pounds for 2 months on abilify. I easily gained weight than before so I thought it would be impossible to lose weight. But intermittent fasting(16hours fast+8hours eating) and keto helped me to go back, even though I still have some weight to lose.

I do elliptical machine for 40min and lift some weights for 20min every morning. It is easier to exercise if you have some family or friends to go with together. It’s been a fixed schedule, now, for me because I had to go to the gym not to disappoint them. And keto is just like low carbs diet but add some oils in your diet. I hope it helps.

that is amazing if you are doing that, esp in the morning, my mornings are hard to get in gear, i basically wake up and open the curtains, keep it up

I’m losing weight on a 1200-1400 calorie a day diet, I naturally burn 1500 calories a day and when I add exercise it’s more. I’m under supervision of a nurse practitioner and nutritionist and using MyFitnessPal.com to track the calories. I’m losing about 2 lbs a week I just started and I’ve lost 5 lbs so far. It’s been hard because the major change for me was cutting out sugar which is very addicting so I’m basically a recovering addict right now. But if I can do it, trust me, anyone can.

It helps a lot to be on mostly weight neutral meds. Exercise is good for you, too. When I’m at what for me is my best, things that were difficult are relatively easy.

It seemed like I was getting fatter and fatter, but if I got on the scales I found that I was basically the same weight. It turned out that I was bloated.

So I chose to eat lots of red onions to reduce inflammation. Soon it looked like I had lost 30 pounds.

Onions became my new snack.

I’ve lost 18 pounds.

Yes it is possible! It takes longer as often you get stuck at a weight and it no longer shifts, but it took me 4 months to lose 10 kg eating 1500 calories and exercise biking 15 km 5 days a week.

If you are on an AP then there are studies that say taking a prebiotic called inulin really helps you lose weight along with the diet and exercise. (This is what shifted my last 2kg.)

You can do it but it is no quick fix!

The important part when trying to lose weight is the diet in my experience. U have to do alot of exercising if u eat wrong.

Its entirely possible, like you said eating right and exercising are key. It’s hard to stay in top of it sometimes if you’re like me and lose motivation or are just busy with other things.

I’ve lost 20 pounds on two antipsychotics. It’s doable but I have to count calories as nothing else has worked for me. I hope to lose at least another 10 pounds. It’s hard because my family likes me to be a little overweight and yell at me when my weight is in the healthy bmi range.

my little win for today was 17mins on the treadmill  i burnt 50 calories, i am trying to increase what i can do but its very slow, i nearly broke a sweat, i want to break a sweat,

idk what i’d do if i started sweating a lot as there is no shower and i’d need to take fresh clothes in with me

Lost another 1.4 lbs over 2 days

Stair stepping can really chew through calories, and I find it not incredibly harder than a treadmill on 2.5.

Get all your teeth yanked out. Seems to be working for me. Really I don’t recommend it. I want a burger or some wings. But the losing weight part is good.
