Trying to be my own payee for ssdi

I had my doctor fill out a form to say i can handle my own money. I heard it could take 60 days to go through. Why so long? I am really afraid that theyll take away my disabilitu if i can handle my own money. Has anyone ever done this before?

I’ve been on SSDI for many years. I have almost always handled my own finances.

My mom is my payee, I wanted to appeal it at first then I was like bleh and never bothered to appeal.
