I want to be my own payee can you give me pointers or insight?

I have been on SSDI since 2009 I was 28 & every since the beginning I have had a payee. Before my breakdown & diagnosis I was working & had a good paying job & living on my own, So I know how to manage money.

Here’s my question, what steps did you take to be your own payee? I have heard I need to print out a certain form for the .gov site & have the my Dr. fill it out send that in. And wait ? or is there more steps ? please help if you can… Thanks everyone.

The dr has to fill out a form saying you’ve improved. But that can also tell the gvt you’re no longer disabled because you’ve improved. You may end up having to go through a process proving you’re still disabled.
