Trying out CoQ10

Been taking this for 5 days. I’ve felt more energetic and seem to be sleeping better at a dose of 3-400mg daily.

I’m not going to go overboard reviewing this at early stages, but it seems promising.

CoQ10 is a substance important for the whole body. especially heart and brain. It’s main function is to produce energy in the cells, and help convert food into energy.

AP’s and AD’s are proven to deplete CoQ10.

It’s a fairly expensive supplement. So I might stop amyloban and go for this instead. I can’t afford both.

If you are taking blood thinners you should probably avoid this supplement as it can make them work less.

I have been taking 300 mg ubiquinol coq10 for a few years. My blood pressure has dropped to a normal range with it.

I take the ubiquinol version as well. I tried the ubiquinoe version previously, but it gave me chestpain for some reason.

I read the ubiquinol is absorbed more easily in the body. It’s good you found out what was causing the chest pain.

Dude I was reading about this supplement years ago and how Zyprexa is depleting it. But I didn’t trust the information 100% because there was no sources IIRC.

Maybe I will buy some.

What site did you buy from?

How much was the difference in energy levels?

I’d say there is a significant difference just after five days. It appears I’m sleeping better and feel more vital, less brain fog.

I buy pharmanord brand locally from healthstores in Norway. I bought from kinsarvik naturkost when they had 20% off sale.

But there’s probably cheaper options buying online from iherb or something.

Now you got me curious to try some other supplement that is supposedly depleted by olanzapine, like melatonin.

Antipsychotics that deplete CoQ10 the most:

Among antipsychotic medications, Aripiprazole (Abilify), Quetiapine (Seroquel), and Risperidone (Risperdal) are known to deplete Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) the most. These drugs have been shown to have a significant impact on reducing CoQ10 levels in the body, potentially leading to symptoms associated with CoQ10 deficiency.

Very interesting.

But

CoQ10 can lower blood sugar levels, so people with diabetes should monitor their blood sugar levels closely while taking it or avoid the supplement altogether.

So I don’t know if I can take it.

Found this.

they note:

However, a number of limitations including low adherence, modest sample size, and attrition, likely reduce estimates of effects. As such, results should be considered preliminary.

Yeah. Doubt it can treat sz directly, but may possibly help negative symptoms at least.

Maybe opt for a small dose like 100mg if you want to try it. You could even get it at 30mg, but at such a low dose I don’t think it does much. The body is supposed to produce somewhere between 500-1500mg on its own when it is not impaired.

I got some symptoms in chest, like small pinpricks. I will probably reduce the dose to 100mg daily. Got to do what my body tells me.

Sounds like a good idea. How are you doing, do you still get a little boost in energy and better sleep? I’m getting mine tomorrow, will report any potential effects.

Yeah, energy and sleep has been better. I’m sure it’s not a coincidence.

Makes sense to me that it would happen, if it’s true that zyprexa depletes it. And you can’t get significant amounts from food either, so it maybe means the coq10 are getting to a more normal level, just guessing.

It’s could also be a possibility that the chest thing you’re feeling is the body getting used to higher levels and that it would disappear with time. But I think you’re smart to play it safe, and go down to 100mg.

Yeah, I thought about that. Maybe try to stay on 100mg some weeks, then increase again later and see.

I started taking it today, 100mg. I felt a light tingling at various places after taking it, but it disappeared now. Will update.

I had to back down on the dose thursday last week. I think it built up in my system. Has a half life of a little over 30 hours I believe. I think 100mg will be the correct dose for me moving forward.
