Tried to open a new checking account but was declined

Due to information in Chex Systems. I requested the information from them Thursday which they are supposed to furnish me since I was declined.

Has anyone else had this problem? I haven’t written any hot checks. Maybe it has to do with the person who stole pandemic unemployment funds using my name, date of birth, and Social Security number a year or two ago.

I can’t imagine why they’d decline you.
I can understand a bank not giving a credit card if you have poor credit history, but a checking account doesn’t have that risk attached to it

Thanks @StarCrazy. I’m going to get to the bottom of it.

Whew! That’s rough. I really hate people who do that kind of thing. It’s not a victimless crime. They not stealing from the rich. More often they steal from people who really need that money.

Thanks @crimby 15

Yeah I’m sorry that happened to you ElGato. My sister got fooled by someone to give her personal details away and she doesn’t have MH issues so it can happen to anyone.

I’m under the impression you change banks a lot. Is that really necessary?

Thanks @StarCrazy. @TheFountainPen no I probably shouldn’t be doing that.

It’s from either owing mpney due to overdrafts or possibly due to changing ba ls so much. Here is the info…

Negative Information on Your ChexSystems Report

Too many past bounced checks or overdrafts . Unpaid fees or negative balances from a current or closed account. Suspected fraud or identity theft. Too many accounts applied for over a short amount of time

Bring your Oreck vacuum cleaner into the Bank for a deposit and a sign of good faith.
