Tired of online banking

I’ve tried Discover, Capital One, PenFed and all of them are bad. I’m just going to stick with going in to my brick and mortar local bank. At least if there is a problem you can go in, show your ID and get it quickly straightened out. This bs of being on hold for a half an hour, then all the security crap to prove your identity they put you through is for the birds. Online banking takes me more time and is extremely aggravating than physically going to a building ever did.

Online banking suits me just fine!

alot of the banks here still require appointments or the lobby is closed all together cause of covid

I guess you haven’t had someone use your name, date of birth, and Social Security number to fraudulently claim pandemic unemployment funds like they did with me.

It’s too much of a hassle now. It’s easier just to go into a branch to conduct my business now.

Discover asked me if I filed taxes and I said No. Then they had me e-sign form for the IRS to release my tax information. I did that then Discover requested my tax returns after I told them I don’t file taxes. They are really screwed up didn’t listen to me when I said NO I don’t file taxes. These people have one-track minds and create problems that don’t exist.

This is the BullSh*t I go through just to do online banking. It’s pure crap.

I still have my Midwest bank from Missouri - they have a great app - great customer service.

I moved to CA and it doesn’t really matter. They have been great and removed fees due to financial hardship just with a phone call.

I love them…

I only go to the bank to deposit cash & coins since I am completely cashless. I use only NFC (Near Field Communication) on my Samsung Galaxy Smartwatch to make transactions.

A credit card whether it be just one or four is a necessity to buy anything online or at a brick and mortar store.

How did someone get your personal information?

I understand your frustration @anon54988740
I too was a victim of fraud as well.

Yeah it might be more practical for you to visit the bank in person

I didn’t mean to upset you.

I apologize

No problem. I have no idea how they got my social security number though. I just don’t let everyone know it.

See above reply. My mom had my SSN. Maybe they conned her into giving it to them.

The local bank I use where I can go in person uses security questions to verify who you are on the phone and online. One of them is my pet’s name. My last pet died maybe five years ago and nobody knows it’s name so that was a safe quesion.

I love my bank. They will help me over the phone within seconds, in person within minutes and they are a 5 minute drive from my house. I can check my account online 24 hours a day. It’s a small chain but very well run.

I just opened an account with a local bank recently. They are on a bus stop close to home too. I haven’t had any problems with them. I go in in-person to do stuff like deposit checks, but use their online banking too. I’m going to close the out-of-state bank accounts I have, as they are the one’s I’m having problems with.

I haven’t used cash in ages. Maybe because i am chronically financial broke. I need a financial injection.

Everything I need to do with banking is on an app on my phone

Don’t even carry a wallet around with me as debit card is on my phone and I can pay wirelessly

I’m happy with my current bank. They have several offices at walking distance and a great app. I’m happy that I’m still able to manage my own money. The bank does charge for everything.

Thanks @shutterbug

Not trying to be harsh @anon54988740, I don’t like it when nice people are preyed on by not nice people. You’ve got a good heart and deserve better.

Oh It wasn’t him. I found out about the pandemic funds being stolen Mid August 2021. I didn’t meet my acquaintance on Facebook until February 2022.
