Partner says I usually get similar symptoms this time of the year. So it’s not unusual. I might have to go sick cos I can’t cope.
Have you ever tried a SAD lamp? If it’s seasonal, maybe it’s seasonal affective disorder. Just a thought.
Yes but I didn’t find it all that useful maybe I needed to sit in-front of it for more minutes.
How long did you try it for, and for how many minutes? My pdoc recommended 30 minutes a day. I’ve been on it a week, and while I haven’t noticed anything yet, I’m not giving up. This article by the Mayo Clinic says it can take two or more weeks.
If I’m honest after about 3 weeks I got more anxiety from it hence I stopped I didn’t give it more chance. It’s known to trigger mania.
My SAD lamp made me so manic I landed in the hospital.
Yikes, y’all. I read that it can cause mania, but y’all are making me nervous!
I’m super careful with mine since I go manic easily. I do just 10 to 15 minute increments and if I start to feel a goofy I stop.
Hey @anon80629714. I find sz to be very cyclic. I have breakdowns and more symptoms in spring out here. I get plenty of sun and just find it’s a weird cyclic thing. I’m not sure the good strategies for it but I take meds religiously and I chat and have a good relationship with psydoc. If I’m struggling I ask for help. Seems good policy for me.
I didn’t know it can be lated to sz too. But I’m seeing my gp tomorrow so let’s see what he says.
Whats a SAD lamp for depression?
Yes seasonable affective disorder
Can it help for depression caused by not going out into sunlight much like someone that sleeps most of the day thinking of getting this for girlfirend
I think it’s supposed to uplift depression but not all with SAD use it. Still worth consulting a doctor before you buy.
I’ll ask her to speak to psychiatrist about it.
My SAD lamp makes me get anxious and manic.
I don’t use it any longer.
