The news is so negative

It’s not good for my paranoia issues. Seeing all the gun violence close to my home makes me obsess about it and can’t stop thinking about it. The news is always negative and shares the depressing stories.

I don’t watch tv. I am hearing these happenings on the radio between the commercials and music. I know already my life has changed to the worse. It’s like i am an apeman looking out for the sabertooth tiger. I am always beware of the regular drunk as well. Its like some apocalyptic movie.

Lots of these shootings are happening at clubs and bars around my home. Drunk criminals do bad things like shoot others. It puts innocent people at risk that are close to the incident. @anon53623539

I don’t listen to the news because there is nothing I can do about it. It’s difficult enough to listen to a friend’s hard times. I don’t need to listen to a strangers. I’m not that strong.

I agree, it’s very depressing. One program I’ve enjoyed is NHK news (Japanese news in English on an upper PBS channel) They will talk about sumo wrestling, disabled people in Japan and random Japanese news. Still get some negative news, like the recent anime studio attack.

There’s a difference between paranoia and a paranoid delusion, because unfortunately, there are some things that you should be paranoid about. Trigger happy policemen, sexist doctors, racist judges; these are some very real, very serious issues that we need to be wary of. That said, it shouldn’t be all consuming. Just make sure you practice basic safety tactics.

  • Don’t talk to the police without a lawyer.
  • Don’t let the police search anything unless they have a warrant.
  • NEVER call the police to your home.
  • Make sure the officers can see your hands at all times.
  • Do not TOUCH anything that they give you, including food or drink.
  • Do not use any bathrooms in a police station unless you’re in a cell and it’s a true emergency.
  • Do not resist arrest, even if it’s unlawful.

Stuff like that. I got the lowdown from my mom yesterday because I haven’t been watching the news. Honestly though, all of this stuff can be boiled down into one simple rule: Don’t be a goddamn idiot.

Schizo special: If you notice that you’re destabilizing, try your absolute hardest to get yourself to a hospital or a loved one before you lose insight.

There is plenty of negative news concerning shootings, but I never have heard any positive news concerning the study of the minds of gun crazy people, and how to prevent it. It’s sort of like hearing about people being bullied, but still not hearing anything about preventing people from being bullies, nor hearing much about bullies being properly dealt with. The focus is always just the victims.

I watched the news and it made me paranoid to go outside, it really is something we should try to avoid especially if it triggers you.
