The police just came to my house again

The neighbor reported us for shooting off guns. He’s really losing it. I feel so bad. I explained to the officer that this man is hallucinating and the officer seems to understand. I don’t know what else to do. I wish I could make the neighbor understand we don’t have a gun. He must be so upset to be calling the police all the time.

That is really tragic. Like you say must be terrible for him. The cops keep records of call outs so they will know by now what the situation is. But I think they are duty bound to come out anyway

Yeah, they probably have to check anyway. Poor, poor man.

man that guy needs to be put in a home or something. having the police show up at your place, i would think would be stressful. it would make me paranoid to have them come by all the time. you are dealing with it better than i would, definitely.

I don’t mind the police, their just trying to help. They are so polite about it because they sort of know it’s him, but like @anon94176359 said they are duty bound to check. I just wish I could ease his mind.

Do you have overhead powerlines to the houses? I ask because we have, and about four years ago the powerline touched the roof and it sound like fire crackers or gunshots. It was only when the fuse on the pole blow when we could figure out what was going on.

No we don’t. He’s ill and his meds are making him hallucinate. A little ways back he hallucinated that another neighbors son tried to break into his house and fled to our apartment to hide and called the police on us then too. He has a degenerative muscle disease and he’s very ill and takes a lot of pain meds and other meds supposedly.

That’s really so sad. I’m sure the cops understand. Hopefully, the man doesn’t suffer hallucinations much longer.

I wonder if antipsychotics would help him. Anyways, his Drs know that.

I get the feeling that he’s just going to get worse, sort of like dementia does. He’s really going down the drain. I feel so bad, I wish I could help somehow to ease his mind. Maybe I should go over and talk to him.

It might trigger more paranoia if you go talk to him

It’s a shame that he’s upset, but this is very serious. People calling in fake gun complains has resulted in people being SWATted with horrible outcomes.

It could be viewed as harrassment at the very least. I’d suggest exploring your legal options.

He just came to my house to confront my ex, who is sleeping because he doesn’t feel well, and I talked to him for 10 minutes trying to convince him that we are not shooting off guns. He seems to believe me now. But he thinks someone is. I doubt we will be swatted, I don’t think our police have a swat team. I’m not worried about myself in this, I’m worried about this poor man. I don’t know how to help him. He just had tears in his eyes as he told me he was dying because his disease is effecting his breathing now. So sad.
