The Importance of Security

I was told by a friend of mine long ago to get better passwords for all my accounts. I never really listened, it seemed like too much trouble to change the many, many, passwords for all my accounts across the Internet. I had a couple of pretty secure passwords for really important sites but not so much for the rest.

With all of the recent hacks of major sites, like the Russians who stole like 1.2 billion passwords and the Heartbleed vulnerability discovered, I decided to finally update my passwords.

I started using a password application, Lastpass. It’s great, you can have it generate really hard to crack passwords for all your sites and you only need to remember the Lastpass master password. You can also set your own passwords for sites if you choose and view any passwords in your vault.

This isn’t an ad. It’s just a suggestion that if you’re like I was and have a bunch of poor passwords you might want to look into changing them. There are other password managers out there, Lastpass was just the one I chose to use.

I think people should be more aware of their internet safety issue than before. We are almost transparent when surfing on internet by leaving cookie and copy of our emails and posts to the servers. Gmail and hotmail servers have everything we wrote.
