All these Snowden revelations were known years before he did so. Back in 1990, almost a quarter of the century ago, I was in one international corporation and there their systems administrator told how he and others read people’s email messages and described how some people had work place romances. So it has been happening for a long time. Back in 1995 when I received some email newsletters about Russia and Moscow in Atlanta I read how one American businessman had been beaten in Moscow and in the same evening my former US woman came and said that she did not want to go to Moscow. They had read my emails. It is all ■■■■■■■■. Now wonder I became crazy.
You raised the question of internet safety. This is an interesting topic. I guess only IT people know how much privacy we lose by using internet like sending emails, browsing on websites and Skypeing.
Most people seem to be indifferent about this issue.
I’ve had my little bouts of paranoia here and there but on the whole I don’t tend towards paranoid thinking at all. I put a lot out there on this internet of ours. I don’t put everything out there but it is a lot. I guess I use discussion forums sometimes as an outlet in a world in which I must otherwise act very sane and boring. Not necessarily this forum as I do post on other forums for other purposes. I figure if I’m being watched by the NSA then I might as well make them think and hopefully maybe even have to laugh.
What about me? I upload my portrait, family photo, disclose family history, my education and work experience, and also a public profile about my skill, apart from numerous mailbox address, phone number, addresses.
That’s why I often change username, mailbox, phone number, and change URL of blog, profile, sites.
On second thought, do I need to do so? Of what importance do I possess? I am not wealthy, not intelligent, not famous.
Your probably just fine Plumber. I wouldn’t be too overly concerned about it. As long as your financial information is safe and secure I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
