The cost of meds

I just got my monthly statement that shows how much my medicine costs and how much medicare covered and how much medicaid covered. So far this year my medicine costs have been over $17,000. Saphris and Rexulti are both over $1000 each month. I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have medi/medi. I feel for people who don’t have insurance.

I am lucky to be insured.
I would be broke without insurance.

Unfortunately a lot of us are so poor they can’t charge us much for meds.

oh no! I have mild asthma, it sucks. It flares up whenever i get a cold or flu, then I can’t breathe and live on my inhaler and have to go to er for breathing treatments because my brother gave away my nebulizer accidentally…

Im angry because two months ago the Alvesco pump didn’t have participation, and now it has.

Yup. Vraylar is very expensive too. I’m hoping to try iti-007 soon. I’m praying that I’ll be closer to normal on it. I want to work.

I have Obamacare insurance, but it has a huge deductible, so I pay all my pharmacy bills out of pocket. Last month they jacked the price of my Haldol from $50 a month to $135. I can only hope it goes down again soon. When i called my insurance company to ask about it, they told me that the manufacturers can change the cost of their meds at any time, and that was the current price for 45 Haldol 20 mg tablets. (i take 30 mg a day).

@anon70049667 Asthma inhalers are so expensive here too! We have to use a credit card every time we fill my husband’s steroid inhaler. Ugh.

SAPHRIS that’s the other med I’ve tried before wow I couldn’t remember the name of it. Sorry random but that was driving me crazy.

My insurance just out of the blue said it wouldn’t cover one of my meds anymore and I’m trying to fight it but my doctor’s office is being slow about it.

People in Canada who are low income get pharmacare. I pay.$100 a year and that’s it and my pharmacist is a family friend so he even gives me my vitamins for free.
Many people in Canada complain about our health care. I think they need to give their head a shake.

My insurance has paid over 12,000 this year. I have paid $614 out-of-pocket, plus $841 a month for my insurance premium.

Illness and poverty are good friends

I have insurance from my husband’s job. I pay $10.00 a month for each prescription. I also get up to $2000 a year for dental work and I usually need to use most of it. Without dental insurance I don’t know what I would do. In spite of all of this I am sad slot.

Wow that’s so much. I bought some more Efexor today along with some other medications for my partner and it cost $45 in total. I really feel for you guys. How do any of you get ahead with so much expense!

I’m glad because the meds are covered by Medicaid, but when I first leaned about how expensive the meds were I was sad that I would never be off of the restrictions presented by SSI, the fact I’d probably never live a normal life, and of the tax burden on those who live normal lives.

That is sad. But you shouldn’t see yourself as a burden. You’re a human being and you deserve healthcare. Your good health is a small price to pay if it gives you a better quality of life and makes you a more productive member of society. That pays in more ways than just money.
