Hi Everyone,
I started this website and forum in the late 1990s after my brother developed schizophrenia. Since that time we’ve had probably tens of millions of visitors here. But in the past 5+ years, due to google changes in their search algorithm and also due to lake of time and funds necessary to invest and maintain the site, the traffic has steadily fallen to the point where now there are very few visitors (in the hundreds), and sadly I can no longer financially support the web site.
The good news is that there are now many new forums on the topic of schizophrenia and related disorders that are now available on the internet, on Reddit and other platforms. And you can also create your own forums on some of these platforms for free.
So, it is with a heavy heart that I have come to post that the forums will be closing down here at the end of December this month. The forums will close down and I’ll be taking all the messages entirely off-line.
Thank you all for coming here over the years.
Support, discussion and connection is something we all need and benefit from. So I encourage you to continue to maintain the friendships and connections you’ve made here, but just do it in new forums.
I also encourage you to look on the Internet to find other forums that may be good meeting places for people here. Post links to those forums and try to get your friend here to move over there and create accounts over the coming 3 weeks.
I’d also suggest people work on transitioning over to these new forums over the coming two weeks, just so that you are more established on these new forums before this forum goes down.
I’ve met many great people here on the forums over the years, and I hope you have too.
To all the forum Moderators, I appreciate all the effort and time that goes into trying to moderate a forum like this. I did it for over a decade myself, and know it can be difficult at times.
But, you’re helping thousands of people (from the comfort of your homes, no less) - and I think thats one of the most important things we can do as members in this world. I encourage other people here to thank the moderators for their work too, even though you may at times disagree with them. Nobody is doing this for the pay (there is no pay).
