After this last breakdown I was put on Haldol and I am still using clonazepam for sleeping. Cogentin for side effects. Still taking Invega injection. Previously I was only Invega monotheraphy. I want to go back to that. The Haldol has my mouth dry. Have you ever just taken Haldol for a short period?

But Invega alone was working for. I am thinking I should be able to go back to just Invega. I will have to ask the pdoc.
Haldol is a strong Ap i was taking it and developed tardive dyskinesea.

Did you take it with something for side effects like Cogentin?
I take a very small dose amisulpride.
If I get an episode I go for a high increase in amisulpride for a couple of days.
Or I go for haldol for a couple of days.
I have taken haldol before for a long period of time. It stops episodes for me. But longterm I prefer amisulpride.

I take 5 mg haloperidol at night. It helps me relax so I can sleep. I also take 500mg amisulpride
Yup i took 0.5mg of cogentin, still wasn’t enough.

I HATE Haldol!!! It’s a torture med. They use it to torture mentally ill people in Russia.

From the charts I’ve seen, 2mg haldol should be the standard dose. You get the desired 60-70% d2 receptor occupancy for most ppl at that dose. I may try this if vraylar doesn’t go well, since my rexulti is not great rn (looking to switch).
Higher than 4mg may just have more side effects with not much more efficacy.

I take 15 mg of Haldol every night. I don’t appreciate being accused of lying about taking it @halozination

Do you get dry mouth with Haldol?
No. But I do drink a gallon of water a day like my urologist wants me to do so maybe that’s why

Dry mouth is bad. I’ve used methods to stop it for years, like sugar free cough drops, sugar free gummies, sucking on fennel seeds, taking fennel water, and xylitol powder is great for dry mouth. Keeping your mouth moist keeps your gums and teeth healthier from decay. I also avoid astringents during the day, like lemon/lime, raw spinach, pomegranate, the powder on grapes (I wash it off with soap), juniper berries (who eats them, anyway ha ha), tea (tannins), nut skins, unripe bananas, cranberry juice…

Maybe it’s not the Haldol but the Cogentin that is giving me dry mouth.

Its the only ap i have ever been on im down to 1,5mg a day

Cogentin is a pretty strong anticholinergic (level 3 I believe), and anticholinergics are known to do this. When I was taking it only for a week or two the skin around my mouth became very dry and started flaking badly.
