TD and difficulty swallowing

I was recently diagnosed with Tardive Dyskinesia and besides my usual symptoms of lip pursing, tongue sucking and occasional hand trembling I’m now having trouble swallowing.
The inside of my mouth and throat tightens up and it makes swallowing difficult.
Right now it’s not chronic but it happens frequently
Thank goodness I see my psychiatrist soon.
I can’t wait to either have my Risperdal lowered or terminated completely
Right now I have Abilify in my cross hair

I hope that doesn’t get any worse for you. I think the new medications for it are really expensive.

I think I have the beginning of TD also but I haven’t got it checked out and diagnosed yet. My tongue moves around my mouth or pushes out on my cheeks when I am busy cleaning and doing laundry or cooking or whatever. My daughter has noticed it and told me about it.

So far my TD is rapidly getting worse

Hopefully my insurance will cover the costs of the new TD meds

I may have to come off the Risperdal completely and go on either the Ingrezza or Austedo

I hope that my psychiatrist doesn’t refer me to a Neurologist

I see enough doctors

Do you have acid reflux? I have trouble swallowing because of acid reflux. I hope the doctor fixes it for you soon

Unfortunately it’s not due to acid reflux
There is tightness that originates in my mouth and throat

TD can affect swallowing

I’ll have it confirmed by my doctor this week

Sorry to hear hope your doctor comes up with a solution for you. I had trouble swallowing on high dose of seroquel its horrible. Feeling for you

I would flatly refuse any med that made me unable to swallow. That’s unacceptable. You need to be seen immediately

I’m sure that now she will decide to switch me off of Risperdal completely
