Tardive dyskinesia? Or something else?

Ok, so I am on 5 mg of Haldol and I am experiencing a…inability to sit still…like I feel like I always have to be moving and have been either moving my leg back and forth and/or grinding my teeth.

I don’t wanna make a mountain out of a molehill and my copay for my psychiatrist is a lot for us so I really have to think if it’s worth it to make a appt for this…ugh, I wish this wasn’t happening.

I grind my teeth too and make involuntary movements with the tongue.

The restless feeling can be a side effect of haldol. It can get really bad though! When I got this they put me on cogentin. It did help so its worth mentioning.

speaking of haldol. My psychologist told me that my psychiatrist was planning on taking me off the haldol injections. ^o^ How cool is that.

Nice! That’s great!

not a doctor but it sounds like akathisia per what I have read on line. Good news is controllable and curable(reversible). But sooner you get your doc’s attention better.

Thats not Tardive dyskinesia I think. Sounds like Akathisia as was mentioned. Could you function with a lower dose of Haldol?

I told her during our appointment and she said nothing… It’s mild and not constant.

I take a 1 mg pill of Haldol. Many people take less than 5 mg.
