So in the last 4 weeks I’ve been waking up to my legs being very stiff and the rest of my body somewhatish. And I’ve been sticking my tongue out inside my mouth when I sleep. And I wake up to it in pain like it got bit or cut on the sides. I was prescribed dipenhydramine for dystonia but I’ve been only taking it once a day just 25mg instead of the 4 times a day total 100mg. Maybe I should start taking it all throughout the day and see if it helps. But what do you guys think? Has this happened to any of y’all?
I stick out the tongue all day long
Are you supposed to be taking it 4x a day? If so yes I’d recommend taking it 4 times a day.
Which AP are you on? Haldol was giving me a stiff neck, but Cogentin cleared that up immediately.
It was giving to me incase of muscle rigity. But I didn’t think of it until just now. I know I know. Took me a month to realize it. Slow mind. But yeah I’ll start taking the full dosage tomorrow and see if it works… It just really sucks like im sooo stiff… Like from a rough workout the day before but i don’t workout.
Yeah sounds like dystonia to me, the tongue thing I’m not sure about I know tongue movements are associated w TD. Either way sounds so unpleasant sorry you have to deal with that
I’m on Resperidone 6mg
I was on 15mg risperidone and that’s why I developed td
What’s TD again?
Tardive dyskinesia
I just looked it up! I do grimancing, and lots if eye blinking involuntary all the time!!! I’m sorry you got that. I guess I got it too. I gotta go see my doctor again for sure now
Maybe try to get the dose lowered. 3mg is pretty much considered the minimum dose. 2mg might still help a bit for some. @far_cry0 takes it.
If I lower it I’ll get mentally worse again. I’m finally a bit stable on 6mg. But I was thinking I may need it to get up by 1mg again. But I read that your AP gets discontinued if you develop TD and get switched to clozapine or the other named one i csnt think of. But yeah. And I’m moving to Germany in 2 months and I don’t want to start on a low dose of AP again cause I can’t get it raised over there as quick until I’m all settled in. I’d like to start on a dose equal to Resperidone.
I understand. It can be a hard trade off between remaining stable or having EPS.
He doesn’t have positive symptoms, though. He (far cry) has sz simplex which is different and needs medicated differently than sz. Careful with your suggestions.
Sorry. You were talking about far cry. Yeah. 3mg is the minimum dose of risperidone for someone with schizophrenia. I’ve just seen @far_cry0 talk about wanting to take 2mg a day. I don’t think that would be enough for someone with true schizophrenia really. You need 3mg or higher…
