Switching from 5mg olanzapine to 100mg of quetiapine. What will happen?

Im scared i have made the wrong decision. The docter called me up because i wanted to lose weight and i changed it to 100mg of qiatiapine olanzapine is a very strong drug and im worried i have made the wrong decision and it will all come back. I was on 50mg of qiatiapine when psychotic but it didnt do anything just helped me sleep. Has anyone done this? And what was the dose was you on? Also what should i expect

I switched back and forth between Quetiapine and Olanzapine a few times over the years. I was first put on Quetiapine when I was first diagnosed with schizophrenia then I got put on Olanzapine shortly after but I don’t know why. I felt fine on them.

I was on 800 mg Quetiapine with 50 mg as needed at one point and 20 mg Zyprexa. They made me sleep a lot.

Im really scared it wont be enough and ill get psychotic again.

He didnt want me to come of or reduce my medication

If he lets you and you want to I think Quetiapine is a good med to switch to at least that’s what one of my psychiatrists told me in 2016. I’d still be on it but I kept skipping taking it and my psychiatrist wanted me to take an injection instead.

He has already let me and is changing my medication as we speak. Will i get with drawal from olanzapine?

I don’t think you will because they’re both sedating so I think you should be fine.

Im just worried it wont be enough. I cannot afford to be psychosis again

The only way to know is just to try it. I think if the dose is high enough you should be fine. 100 mg isn’t enough in my opinion.

That is what im worried about. Olanzapine is very strong so 5mg was enough but im not sure about this one. Im terrified

That’s what’s going to happen.

Ask your doctor why they’re giving you a sub therapeutic dose.

I.e. why you’re getting a dose that’s less than the recommended dose for schizophrenia.

Maybe they’re just seeing how it affects her. I started on 100 mg and eventually went up to 800 mg.

It was because i wanted to reduce my olanzapine to 2.5 but is olanzapine really stronger then quetiapine
