Hello im a 33 year old male whos recently been put on amisulpride 600 mg and have no libido at all (im a married man so you see the problrm) was considering going back on haldol and adding mirtazapine for the akathisia i get from it. My questiong is will mirtazapine really help for the akathisia and my dose of haldol will be 5 mg
I’m on 500mg amisulpride and have no libido. I’m married which makes it a concern but a woman so not too concerned. I’m on 4mg haldol as well. And 30mg mirtazapine for depression.
The mirtazapine doesn’t help for akathisia, it gives me akathisia! The haldol only slightly and the amisulpride not any akathisia at all
Thanks for the reply the dr said low dose mirtazapine or tazodone could help for akathisia theres literature on that and im too scared to tske propanolol
When I was starting mirtazapine I took a very low dose (7,5mg) and from the first dose I was kicking in the bed, but it’s different for everyone. Hope it works for you
It’s helping a lot with my depression even though it makes my legs and arms restless
I hope so too thanks
You should really ask your doctor about that. I’m barely qualified to tell you if you should switch from regular to decaf coffee.
The best for libido is Abilify.
Hahaha good one bro
Yes abilify was great but to expensive over here in jordan
Sad news, I used haldol and had no libido. My libido was high on Invega, but I read that Invega causes sexual dysfunction. Haloperidol is really heavy on dopamine and does nothing to the negative symptoms
How much haldol were you prescribed per day
On invega i barely had a libido but it functioned ok with prescribed cialis
Im still on haloperidol (50mg depot every month) which ewuivalents to like 3mg of oral haloperidol. Im weaning off haloperidol now as I am returning to Invega, might stay on both of them cause my sz is pretty heavy
Hope everything willl turn out fine for you im on just 5 mg haldol now and gonna see what happens
Abilify lowers my prolactin. I take Abilify.
Now, my doc is considering switching me from Haldol to Amisulpride as the second medication. I was wondering will my prolactin stabilize or shoot as I have 1/5th the prolactin of the lower bound of the normal range on Abilify.
I’m going to persuade my pdoc to upper my Clopixol dose to 500 mg every other week. You know old men don’t need me any libido.
I changed my mind. I’m going to ask for 400 mg of Seroquel because that’s a gentler antipsychotic than a very high dose of typical. That also means that I can keep some of my sexual abilities.
F*** haliperidol/haldol. That ■■■■ turned me into a stiff legged and stiffed arm zombie. Even the cogentin seemed to not help that. As far as akathasia goes, i havent tried another medication to make it go completely away. I dont honestly think there is one. And no, it does not go away over time, in my experience.
Yes ive found the least amount of side effects with seroquel. But about all it does is make me have a really good nights sleep. It does not, in any way, stop whats happening to me. I basically chose the least side-effect medication, just so that i could say i was on a medication to satiate the pressure i get from my family to be on an AP. None of it works, but atleast i get a good nights sleep.
Yes my voices dont really go away tried most meds seroquel felt best for sleep and mood but at 600 mg i was getting nose bleeds everynight at one point
