I was taking Haldol and Abilify. Abilify doesn’t cause me sexual side effects. But, when the Haldol dose went above 10 mgs, I started have no ability/desire. I checked prolactin and it was within the range. So, anyone knows what may be the reason if not prolactin?
Currently, I am on Amisulpride plus Abilify. My prolactin is pretty high, and I have a lower sex drive. I have started taking Cabergoline since a month and it has helped a bit with the sex drive. But, it is still high-- something around 33. So, the dose of Cabergoline has been increased to .5 mgs twice a week. However, the GP was worried if the Amisulpride itself was causing the sexual issues or was it the high prolactin? Can this happen, that without high prolactin, Amisulpride can still cause sexual side effects?
I have a pretty high sexual ability/desire. Im on rexulti which is pretty similar to abilify apparently. I think med induced sexual disfunction is so effed up. Especially if your a young adult still. I think sex drive is such a key factor in the function of a lot of other seemingly unrelated aspects of life.
I dont know whats happening in your case. Wether prolactin or dopamine or what. But if its bothering you a lot. Make sure to stand your ground with doctors and the like in finding a med concoction that doesnt interfere with sexual function so much. All we can do is trial and error i guess.
Not that i notice. I mean compared to other antipsychotics it seems pretty good for brain fog. I also take atomoxetine for adhd which seems to help somehwhat. Even though im pretty sure i dont have adhd. Its not a stimulant though.
Im sorry your doc isnt very open to try something else. I guess your second best bet would be doing what you can to clear your head in other ways. Exercise and being active can help with that. But i know how annoying it can be to hear that when your not in the mindset for exercise. I started jogging again and thats helping me. Even though it almost kills me very time haha.
Or you could stress to your doc further and come up with clear reasons to switch to something else. Im pretty sure they need to be open to changes so that people dont go off there meds out of frustration?
I’m still working on it. I had sex on invega and I enjoyed it like I thought I would. But I’m not satisfied. I’m switching to Abilify. If I can masturbate then and feel more pleasure and have a sex drive then I’m doing good. I hope Abilify does that for me
