Suicide by the mentally ill may be a thing of the past in Canada, or at least become much more rare. MAID for the mentally ill is currently being debated by the government and the decision is to come soon…

I posted about that and that its legal in Europe. Ppl were against it and attacked me saying to not post such things lol My thread got locked. I guess its bcz its not legal in the US which is weird because death penalty for criminals is allowed in the US.

Its been legal for years for the mentally ill to die in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Belgium.

I don’t plan on accessing the service myself but I do support it. If my current meds stop working I will try other meds first but IF I ever become treatment resistant I would access MAID. Some people may be able to live with their mental illness, but I found my particular psychosis pretty nasty and I wouldn’t want to live with it for the next 40 years, or worse, be locked up in a mental health facility against my will for the rest of my life.

Yea me too but I was even considering it when I didn’t have positive symptoms but very bad negative symptoms. I may still consider it now if Clozapine doesn’t help my negative symptoms.

It’s an unfortunate set of circumstances we can find ourselves in, I hope the clozapine works for you, but I would understand your decision and support it if it didn’t. For myself it was the opposite, my negatives are not that bad but there were some unbearable episodes when I was experiencing my positives.
