Suggestions for music albums about grief

Or any particular albums that helped you get through it. I’ve already queried it on Google a few times and yesterday while I was waiting for music therapy to start at the recovery centre, I listened to Automatic for the People by R.E.M. While I know it’s one album I’ll be leaning on in the near future, I need something new and am almost finished listening to Young Prayer by Panda Bear. Keep in mind I’m also looking for something melodic and mellow with decent enough lyrics. I also might email a friend who’s a reference librarian at the central library here in Saint John and ask what he might suggest.

I really can’t think of anything except when my mom died I listened to this:

@anon96671092. That song described how I was feeling at the time and I was 13 almost 14 when she died. That song really helped me.

Yeah, I like both of those also @Daze, and for sure For Emma was and still is an instant classic, and “White Winter Hymnal” is on the playlist I made in memory of both my parents. Good suggestions!

Yeah, @Loke, I still remember that song myself, and believe it or not, it’s about 30 years old now. I really love the song she did with Tears for Fears, “Woman in Chains”, as well.

Yeah. I think I would have died if not for that song. It really helped me process my grief. I just tried to find Oleta Adams on instagram. I’m trying to log in. I really want to tell her what that song means to me.

Maybe the only album I might try to listen again is MTV Unplugged in New York. I’ll listen to the other ones when I want to get energized. For the most part, I’m trying to avoid grunge, post-industrial and even post-punk until I’m in a more stable frame of mind.
