Sugar challenge

Good luck @anon49901817 you can do this… do what feels right to ya

yea my diet is relatively wholesome too. it really makes me feel better in some important ways although in other ways it is ■■■■■■■ difficult .

I hope that when I reach my target weight by next year of 55kg, then it will get easier as I would feel more internally confident so less stressed hence less craving.

people think it is not possible to take out added sugar, well for me personally I think it is

I actually take out a few other things too but not prepared to say on this website lol

Good that you are eating wholesome food and feel it makes you feel good in a way. Hope you feel better when reaching your target weight. Mine is 60 kg…im now between 66 and 69 (morning/evening).

I do think i will eat more complex carbs again right before my period. Im now avoiding potatoes, bread, pasta, etc too and think i might start that again when pms starts. Not sure.

I will try those!

idk what country you are in etc but some places it is hard to find quinoa and buckwheat, I am fortunate to live in London, where we have local health store Holland and Barrett  thank ■■■■ for that
and planet organic etc

for me I am currently 75 kg, and my healthy bmi range is 51-68kg… so at least I am not too far away from my healthy weight…

Im in a city in western Europa too, both the organic food store and the normal supermarket have a big assortiment of such stuff.

You indeed arent far off from healthy weight!

Im already in the normal bmi range, but i have a relatively large belly that i want to get rid of. I also want to feel and be more healthy and energetic…I hope my fluctuating mood, energy and anxiety get more stable and good.

Jeej, we can do it!

Hey guys…i need some motivation to stay on track. Im not quitting, but evening is hard. I have bad cravings. Im hungry and cant sleep, which they say is a symptom of sugar withdrawal. Any motivational words? I really want to do this.

By struggling today your day tomorrow will be so so much better because you overcame the craving.
I think it takes practice for our bodies to get used to new eating habits, it is still expecting that other stuff, for now, but in time it will get easier, at least that’s what I like to believe for myself.

Your body is precious and you are doing so well treating it the way you feel it needs to be treated. You can do it all the way. If it ever gets too hard you could always relax the rules some more but that’s up to you…

Well done for making it through day one and day two!! And well done to me too heehee I’m so proud of us that is an achievement in itself!

Also, by us waiting for our next meal, instead of night snacking on sweets, it will taste so much better to us in the morning

Thanks for the motivational talk. Im feeling a lot better this morning. I too am proud of us for doing this!

I have to still find a way to involve my kid. He finds it hard to deal with the new diet. Has to get used to eating different food.

How are you doing?

Im well.

I didnt eat sugar or bread/pasta/etc, except for one occasion (the lunch in a restaurant i already had an appointment for). My sugar cravings are much less today, i dont really feel a need for sugar. Im feeling better already in several ways. I just had to pay for the restaurant dinner with stomach problems and fatigue, even the next day still. I want to find out what caused it…sugar? Bread? Something else?

Im proud im going off sugar and other additives. I want to keep that diet.

Hey Bvf, glad you’re feeling well.
I do feel a better piece of mind but in terms of my mood it is very low. Like I’m sleeping to escape my low mood :frowning:
Don’t get me wrong when I binge on junk I also get a lower mood but it is of a different type.
I find it very hard to live with my mother because we clash. She is very depressed and struggles with food cravings like me and it kind of triggers me. I can’t wait to move out.

I’m hoping that when quarantine is over I’ll struggle less.
But overall it is going OK.

I’m still adjusting i think.

At least I haven’t binged on junk which is totally awesome I just feel like can I keep this up? Idk

And well done for maintaining an eating style that suits you :)!!!

Hey there, sorry you are struggling! I hope your mood clears up soon. It might take a while to adjust.

I also used to clash with my mum and it would bring the both of us off balance. Hope you can find a better way to deal with it.

Hang in there… im sure eventually a healthy diet will make you feel better. Do you eat all the good food you need?

Im proud of you for not binging…that is great!

I just started reading a small and cheap book that i think will be good: Food rules by Michael Pollan.

hey thanks for the response

I think I may do so. I personally believe it is down to emotional stress why I get these cravings.

yeah right now we are not close me and my mum, and tbh idk if we ever will be, does not mean we cant necessarily be civilised with each other but idk how much further it will go. something to talk to the therapy lady about I guess.

keep up the good job, it sounds like you are not even finding it difficult? which is great

Hope the therapy lady helps you. Living with your mum isnt easy anyway…

I have some times that it is hard, especially in the evenings. I found it hard to sleep with a hungry feeling. But it seems to get easier. I already quit a big part of my sugary stuff before the challenge though (i was in the ward and they had mostly healthy food) and had some low moods then…so i did it step by step.

Now i notice i have better energy, more motivation, a clearer head and more stable and happy moods. When i skip a meal and get hungry (e.g. lunch) i do notice i have more anxious thinking again, but eating a good snack helps. I did let go of calorie counting. That i so clearly improve in several ways helps me stick to it.

I really hope you get through the difficult part and start to feel better soon.

good for you for letting go of calorie counting if that made a positive difference. calorie counting also does not help me. actually makes things worse
