Yes, I am. I have only healthy groceries at home now. I’m ready for the challenge!
Nope. Not possible as I live with other people who bake.
@anon90843118 @Moonbeam : Nice! Lets keep each other on track…maybe we need some motivation to stay strong.
@anon12381882 : yes, artificial sugar especially. Artificial sugar has many names in food (lists can be found on the internet) and also replacements (e.g. aspartame, or more natural ones like honey). I want to skip all of those but not whole fruit, and read labels and all. But you can also just stay away from obvious sugary stuff, like soda and candy and cakes.
Cutting part of the sugar and bread already gave me a major energy boost and got rid of many “negative symptoms”.
@shutterbug, I understand…
I live alone and convinced my date and kid and dad to join…the kid needed to be bribed (promised a present).
My daughter is back from college and she’s here until at least January now as the college chickened out and is only doing online classes this fall/winter semester. She’s been baking at least every second day, so, yeah. It’s her lockdown stress relief so I’m not going to ask her to dial it back. No way to do this challenge.
I’m in. It’s gonna be hard but we can do it.
No that is impossible…taking that away would be unkind. Oh well, maybe some other time. Hope having her at home again will be good.
Great! You can do it, im sure. They say the first week is the toughest, so let’s help eachother through.
Drinking enough water and a good breakfast (omelet!) seems to help me with sugar cravings.
Oh, it’s been good. I love going out to do photography with her. I just need to keep going for daily walks and eating better when I can, saying no to second helpings and snacking on crap between meals.
Nice that you are doing photography together…
Im doing regular walks with my kid and sometimes a friend…them joining me helps a lot. Hope the cutting back on snacks and second servings helps! And maybe your daughter wants to try an alternative recipe once in a while, with no sugar?
I already failed because I had some caramel coffee creamer.
No problem, just a small slip. Just start over and try again.
How are the others doing?
I had a sugarfree and breadfree breakfast of 3 eggs, tomato and cilantro. Then I forgot to lunch (stupid) and craved sugar and felt weak, which I solved by eating 3 pieces of fruit, which was the only whole food available there. I will go for a dinner of bone broth with veggies, herbs and meat. And I still have some leftover salmon which I will use as a snack. I have no idea if that is a healthy meal plan and enough or too much food tbh…I wish I could see a dietician to help me transition from a junkfood diet to a healthy one.
I’m doing good so far.
Thanks for asking
good for you!
I’m trying to cut back on salad dressing, and go to oil and vinegar on salads.
don’t think I can give up ketchup though,
So far so good. Fortunately, I have no tempting sugary foods in the house. I will try to keep it that way.
I also threw out most tempting food. I must say eating well helps a lot, with whole products and enough fat and protein. Some cravings by day, but now im good. Ready for bed with no hungry feelings.
Do you have a lot of sugar cravings? Hang on!
So it is midnight here I have officially completed my first binge free day. Not easy I’m telling you.
I’m not really craving sugary food I’m just craving takeaways but it’s manageable. Just my mood is quite low.
Glad you threw away your tempting food @anon49901817 really smart move
Well done, you. You are strong.
And I know!
After i wrote i got really hungry and had a hard time not being able to have a snack. I went out of bed and got myself raspberries and milk, but it didnt help. I fill out my diet in an app and get about 1500 calories a day, which is restricted. Maybe i shouldnt combine sugarfree and calorie restriction at once…first the sugar.
What helps me, but i dont know is healthy or not, is eating healthy animal products. E.g. i snacked salmon or had yoghurt. Also fruit.
I hope your mood improves…i think it will. It is part of withdrawal. The first 48 to 72 hours are the worst, they say…hope you feel better soon.
thanks Bvf, yea for me personally it is the first whole week that is the hardest.
I don’t really know about calories so I am not sure about that tbh. Alls I know is strict eating patterns is not for everyone. I know it is for me but that does not mean it is for others.
Have you ever done it before removing added sugar or calorie restriction?
I hope it goes ok for you, don’t do more than you can handle when it comes to eating patterns is my only advice cos it can backfire otherwise.
Thanks! I tried once before to cut sugar from loads of sugar to zero (added) sugar. At once. Without replacing it by healthy food, like healthy fats. It failed miserably. I was trembling and cravings were huge. I quit fast.
Now it feels better…I slowly went into it by already changing some habits (eg drinking only water) before. And i really want it…my bad diet was truly harming me physically and emotionally. I now got lots of 1 ingredient healthy foods (fish, veggies, eggs, etc) which feels and tastes good.
