Sticking to my diet, but not losing weight

I’m on a calorie controlled diet, and started off with 2500 calories a day.

I stopped losing weight, so dropped 100 calories every so often to kick start weight loss. Still no luck.

Now I’ve dropped another 100 calories, so I’m down to 2000 calories a day.

It’s not easy losing weight. It’s trivial to gain it though.

Most people loose weight around the 1500 calorie mark take out the fat get the energy from your carbs walk or jog. What is your weight and hight? How much do you plan to loose?

I plan to lose 20kg over a year. I’ve tried a calorie calculator and it said I should be aiming for 1800. I’m also seeing a hospital dietician.

I’m ignoring the calorie calculators though and trying to find the correct calories by experiment. Plus it’s easier long term to adjust to each calorie drop if I do it gradually.

Sounds good you can achieve your goal in half that time though.

I can understand it. I haven’t done physical exercise for 4 months. Just have no motivation.

I’ve been hanging around the same weight for a few weeks now. I had a week off and then I’ve been having the odd day off. I need to sort my act out and get back to it.

I haven’t had any time off. I’ve hit a plateau, as described here

Dieting might not be enough - You may have to move around a bit more.

Try casual walking or going on a stationary bike.

I try to walk a bit everyday - even if its just for a few minutes

Dieting is enough for now at least. I’ve already lost about 15kg = 33lb.

I’m trying to get away with the maximum amount of calories at any given time to continue losing weight.

A stationary bike is a good idea though for when /if I decide I can exercise.

I find it difficult to stay motivated on a diet. I would like to lose about 5 or 6 kilos. But there’s so much glorious food about for me to try! At the moment I am addicted to danishes.

Sometimes when you take in fewer calories your metabolism can drop. I recommend some kind of exercise. If you don’t like jogging, try walking. If you don’t like walking, try swimming. If you don’t like swimming, try riding a bike. Try to find something that isn’t a drag to you that will help you lose weight.

I think you should continue with your calorie intake experiment . You haven’t gotten down to 1800 yet. You might need to get below that.

For me it’s the other way around.

There are those people most of us are secretly jealous of.

I hate it. I don’t like skinny men.

Maybe it’s the ‘beard’ that counts.

Not every diet works for every single person. Not all people can lose weight on a certain diet. Maybe a different diet would work better for you.
