Starting Saxenda

I will leave my experience here and how I am losing weight. I understand that Saxenda’s patent expires in a few months. So I’ll keep you informed. I am weighing 95 kilos (209 pounds). My goal is to reach 65 kilos (143 pounds). I see it as unlikely, but hope is the last thing that is lost.

You must live outside of the United States
Saxenda is rarely prescribed here anymore.

It was more popular years ago when it first came out

Here in Canada, you can only get Ozempic if you are diabetic. They won’t prescribe for off-label uses like weight loss because the supply isn’t solid enough and they want to ensure that it is diabetics who are getting it. Also, my private benefits won’t cover Ozembic but they do cover Saxenda.

I have lost 11 lbs in two weeks.

Yes, Saxenda is a really good drug
My doctor still prescribes it and highly recommends it
I’m glad to know that it’s working for you @ozymandias

@shutterbug Wonderful! That is amazing! Good to know about this. Thanks. I hope it continues to be beneficial to you!

Yeah that recently happened here
Diabetics were short on Ozempic cause of weight loss use
O well

Is there any side effects to Saxenda or interactions?
My pdoc brought it up to me to lose weight

I got regular healthcare here in Canada , my job doesn’t really have benefits

I am having trouble with nausea when I eat “too much” (past when I am full) and it has also slowed my system down quite a bit. I am eating so much less that I am taking fibre supplements to keep some bulk in my digestive tract. I have lost 13.8 lbs since Sep 24/2023. It’s honestly a challenge to eat enough each day now. No interactions that I know of.

End of week three. Weight loss is 14.8 lbs. My appetite is still minimal and I am having trouble consuming my daily calories. I get profound nausea if I eat past the point of feeling full. I am now on the full 3 mg dose. No other side effects.

I am happy for you. Results are what’s important. I know I breath and sleep much better now that I lost weight, no more sleep apnea or waking up during night. Not out of breath when using the stairs anymore. Eventhough it didn’t help my sz it still improved my physical health and mood.

I haven’t lost that much yet. Just hit 16 lbs this morning and I’m not even trying hard. Hoping that it accelerates since I am back into VR exercise. Just wore out my arms playing Beat Saber.

30.2 lbs gone according to the scale this morning. I had trouble refilling once, was off Saxenda for 2.5 weeks. My appetite came back, but not as much as I thought it would. I have trained it downwards and I can’t eat as much at a sitting now. I still get full faster even without the Saxenda. I didn’t lose while I was off it, but I didn’t gain, either.

I’m glad it is working for you, i want to ask for it, but afraid I’d be told no… but I have asked for a dietician to see if that helps first

I had to be on Metformin for nearly a year first and have it not work before my benefits would cover Saxenda. I gained on Metformin.

Metformin gave me tummy issues didn’t make me lose any weight whatsoever… I was on it for pcos related weight gain, turns out my weight gain isn’t due to pcos I don’t have it
