Thoughts on Ozempic?

Hi guys, I may be getting prescribed Ozempic tomorrow. Seems likely based on what the nurse said about my blood test results. I currently take metformin, but that isn’t helping enough.

Can anyone taking antipsychotics share their experiences with Ozempic? I have heard many good things regarding losing weight. Most of what I have heard is through the media, though. People talk about it like it is a miracle drug, and my mom seems to think it is. I don’t want to get too carried away, but it seems very promising.

I would kill to get this drug covered so i could lose some zyprexa weight

unfortunately I don’t have heart disease or diabetes lol

I know someone who lost some weight on it. I’ve seen one article claiming it can be tied to some eyesight conditions but it seemed iffy. I’ve heard mostly good things, the thing is though it is never covered by insurance just for weight loss alone.

My uncle did it, he has type 2 diabetes. He lost a lot of weight. His face looks like a demon sucked the life out of it. Usually with antipsychotics, according to literature, you only gain weight in the beginning of meds then it plateaus, the weight you gain after that is on you. I don’t know, when I was on zyprexa I gained like 60 pounds. I lost like 20 lbs just from drinking green tea. That’s all I did, my doctor asked if I was working out or eating better, I was like no, I’m just drinking green tea. Good luck with everything.

I’ve been on Ozempic and although I lost some weight, I’m losing more weight currently on the more potent GLP1 Mounjaro

But yeah Ozempic is a good drug too

Expect some positive changes to your metabolic profile

I was never on Ozempic but was on Mounjaro for about a year after being on Saxenda for 2 years…i went from 298 pounds to my current weight of 145 lbs. I still have to weigh and measure my food and exercise regularly, especially as I’m no longer on Mounjaro and just started Zyprexa. Zyprexa makes me want to eat constantly so i really have to be careful with my intake. But, yeah, the GLP meds are really helpful for weight loss…

I agree that healthy diet and lifestyle are the most effective ways to lose weight. It’s something that I am working on, but have not yet perfected
