Spending, Money, Budgeting etc

I’m pretty good at saving money and budgeting but realise that my money is going a lot quicker and i’m not sure why, i think its bc of my car and petrol prices etc but what i was going to ask you guys is…

are you being a lot more careful with your money? i was worried bc things are getting a lot more expensive and although i am pretty good at saving i feel like i am going to be falling into the red soon,

despite this i have plans and i recently bought a soft synth for £35 and i havent even used it much (i’m a bit overwhelmed by it tbh) and my mood has been low, energy low etc, but i was looking at another soft synth which is a lot more expensive £316 but it is very good value for what you get, so i was looking at that and thinking about getting that and now i want a set of decks worth £260 that are supposed to be amazing for the price forbeginner/intermediate,

sorry for going on so long, basically i havent got much money these days and i want a few things that could take me into the red, its really depressing and at the same time i dont even know if i will use them very much bc my mood and energy can be really low.

idk if anyone can relate, music is a bit of a hobby of mine but i am very slow with it and i need to learn so much stuff.

i do get really upset bc i feel like i am not very good at this at all and why bother etc but i am like well maybe i could still do something just for fun and maybe share with a few people.

I have a guitar as well that i have been neglecting (its hired) i am just the slowest music producer i am almost a snail at this, findit difficult to learn.

Here we have an expression ‘you can only spend every euro once!’. I would wait a couple of weeks before doing an expensive purchase, especially if you’re running short. Controlling impulses can be a big part of the solution. Good luck!

Im always in the flaming overdraft every other month. I do always pay the bills tho - and usually early. But if its in the account - im gonna spend it, be it on chinese takeaways, games for the VR or the odd kindle book.

I have got quite a few grand stashed from the inheritance, but thats purely incase the cooker breaks down or for emergencys. Its not to be frittered away on random crap - and the brother holds iit for me.

I spend within my budget. Where I need to improve is saving for a rainy day.

i am terrible for this too especially takeaways, what would cost 2 or 3 can be up to 10 bucks a night for a meal :frowning: really bad, the takeaway shops must make a fortune off of us :frowning:

I keep to my set list of bills and use whatever’s left for food…I spend about 20 a month on weed edibles but that is my only luxury.

i get what you mean, i’m not lazy (although it seems like that) but i have some problems with food and i hate getting food and preparing it, i think i trust takeaways a lot more than what i can do myself. its a bit too complicated for me :frowning: probably sounds like i am making excuses but i just fail really badly at certain things.

We’re trying to be careful with spending and knock down lines of credit.

i like making saving if i pay something off quickly and its says interest free credit lol like the soft synth was like interest free if i paid over 9 months but i’m taking the advice and thinking about it more, i could get a pirate copy but i am too honest :frowning: lol its not a bad thing but i’d rather take the cost.

does anyone think i should get a pirate version? i’m not judging anyone, its not for me to judge i just dont know, my conscience says no lol

Yeah, it’s been tough to save money with the price of food and gas going up (today the gas costs $4.59/gallon). I’ve been using the food bank to help reduce costs, and I try to plan my shopping route and always use a list. I have a couple thousand in cash squirreled away for emergencies. I don’t use my credit cards unless it’s an absolute emergency…the last time I used one was to pay bail a few years ago when I was arrested.
I try to live within my means, and that means I have to decide when something is a want versus a need. I have a decent life, but very few extravaganzas.

Yes. Inflation is killing my family. We can’t afford anything now because of gas and food etc. everything costs so much more

Nah. Really you shouldnt. Not just because of the developers, you put yourself at risk of rootkits, especially if the software is popular - and you will miss out on bug fixes and updates.

Plus its always more satisfying for me when you have actually bought it.

My thought would be to learn as much as possible about the one you have, become proficient with it, decide if you really like it, then consider the new one/upgrade keeping in mind the cost, and just how much better the new one is vs the one you already have. There could well be redundencies in the new one, stuff tthat’s already in the first one or very similar. Also bear in mind how much you use the one you have already, that could be an indicator, use vs value. I know I 'm rambling on, but it seems best to enjoy the one you have before dropping funds on something new

Yes I try to keep to a certain budget when buying food with my husband’s money, because things can get tight sometimes but even when they aren’t I like to be thrifty. Some products can be expensive though, like my husband’s cigarettes or my coconut flour and almond milk and walnuts
