Sick of being the scapegoat of the family

Whenever my brother, father, or aunts are having a shittty day, they automatically blame me and they will take it out on me.
These are people that are sicker than me and they lack all confidence in themselves.
Pretty pathetic.
Today I lashed right back at my narcissistic brother.
Not going to take his crap anymore.

Do you live with them? Is there any way to create some distance and boundaries? I am sorry you’re being treated this way.

Certain family members including my brother, father and aunt are ganging up on me.
I’m fed up with their crap that’s all

Unfortunately I’m at a gathering and cannot leave right now.
Thankfully I don’t live with my brother or aunt.

Family systems sometimes need a scapegoat.

I came from an alcoholic family. With all that shame, we needed a hero. It fit my basic personality to be a hero. Until I got schizophrenia. When I got schizophrenia, my grandparents attempted to make my formerly scapegoated brother a hero and me the scapegoat.

Even my brother will tell you he hasn’t tended to his career; I’ve done a heroic job of being a schizophrenic.

I was the scapegoat in my family too. Multiple MH staff told me so.
Im so much happier living without them and not seeing them any more

I’m so sorry you’re dealing with that. It hurts so much. I was also the scapegoat. For a long time I didn’t speak to my family. Now that I do, it’s not like that anymore. During that time, they had to find others to blame.

I’m the black sheep and always have been. I cut ties 22 years ago. Toxic family can just go away.

I hope you’re able to get past it, too
