Were you on it?
Were you on it @FreeLunch ?
Yes I was on it for 4 years and I hated every second of it. Getting off of it was the best thing Iāve ever done. It made me gain 100 pounds. Give me retroactive ejaculation which meant painful orgasms. It made me age at an accelerated rate. It made my sleep sort of unrestful even though it would make me pass out.
I highly recommend you donāt use it
Let me say to all of.you that Clozapine is reserved for None responders. If I was none responder to all of the antipsychotics I had tried then I would prefere Clozapine over being totally crippled by psychosis. If it wasnāt for that the seroquel and Clopixol worked so well for my treatment resistant psychosis then I surely would take Clozapine.
I was a non-responder and clozapine never stopped my hallucinations. So while it is reserved for those who do not have any responses to lesser drugs, that doesnāt mean itās necessarily a solution.
Also, Iām on Abilify now and itās doing just fine for me. It was never even tried because of the way that I was treated originally.
I said that it was considered the Gold standard for treatmenresistance. But there will also be none responders to Clozapine. The only problem with Clozapine is that it comes with a set of harsh side effects.
Yeah thatās what Iām trying to point out
We agree on that point.
It was on my prescription with some other AP. But I took it slow to see what it does.
I must say, I hear no voice no halucination, no delusions, but the pdoc gave it to me.
So I took only a quater of it, and I was happy to see I was sleeping long hours. But day time was sleepy as well. I reduced the dose even more, just to sleep and feel ok next day.
I read of it that can really damage your white cells in your blood and bunch more things can go bad with your blood. Thatās why you need blood check weekly or monthly. Has been 4 months here and they did not do any, I was just asked to do it by myself. Kinda funny.
I am not sure it was because of clozapine but, after two weeks I lost my smell. I quit smoking (just to be sure) Than I got blurred vision at left eye. Than after 2 more weeks the right eye started. I was like, no moreā¦has been like 3 weeks off and I kinda got back my right eye vision back and left eye improved.
Meanwhile I got wisdom tooth infection. Real bad one. I had to take antibiotics before operation. My hunch was that the infection was so bad due to my low white cells.
By the way next day after the first time I took it, I did some mistakes at work. Basic stuff. It made me think of clozapine: this makes me dumb!
WE ARE ALL FCKED! And clozapine is the āgold standardā med to stop it! Which means we are double fcked
Letās put it that wayā¦ if you can not handle halucination or voices or whatever, the last resort might work. If thereās no other solution than yeah, you have to accept side effects.
Each should know how it feels from Apās and should let the doctor know about it.
But yea @Superdry you are right, we are all fuedck
Why all those Scary stories. Donāt prohib the Seriosly mental ill to seek help.
Its like its orchestrated or somethin!
Never ment to scare any @columbus . I just share my experience and I would like to note that the only fact i know for sure is blured eye vision and is not a side effect for everybody. the rest is just speculation, buf I know I am more sensitive to chemicals.
As I mentioned, for some might be the right one, no doubt about it, but I guess it is called the last resort for a reason.
Then we agree Divinti. You know I could tell people alot about a med I was once on but I keep quite about that one because there are a lot of people that are doing really well on that.
one of my close friends who were on s depot injection drank lots of alcohol with me every day.
20 years ago he got damaged his brain by alcohol. doctors tried all kinds of antipsychotics but nothing worked. He really had bad psychosis and dreadfull insomnia. We really all thought he was gonna die
The doctor told his mother that they only had. one option left if.that didnāt work he would.die.
They put him on a 100 mg pill of Clozapine . And like magic he slept the whole night and when.he awoke.he was back again as the lad we once knew
Today he.is doing marvelous well. He keeps his weight down by exercising and he doesnāt drink anymore. Yes he has a happy life just like me.
Clozapine was heaven sent at the time , when other medications did not silence my voices and delusions
But long term, itās played some tricks
Hey man, how have your symptoms been has the clozapine kicked in yet?
Symptoms are still there.
Stick with it, it will be a while before it works. Im in the same boat waiting on a med to work, and will most certainly try clozapine if nothing helps, @joker has had good success with clozapine
Iām in the same boat. Iām on olanzapine but trying to decide if clozapine is worth it. I get paranoia and breakthrough voices. And, at times I have intrusive thoughts mixed with thought broadcasting. L-theanine calms the intrusive thoughts thankfully .
