I have been offered a job as a pharmacy dispensary assistant, I am rather undecided as to what to do. The original post was for a behind the scenes role without any customer focus. However they have offered me a role that involves dispensing and dealing with the public. I have some customer service skills though not totally confident in that area, and that is holding me back from accepting the job. I know HR won’t keep it open for me for much longer. My current job is very tedious and I need a fresh challenge, plus the workplace culture isn’t very nice. That is what initially prompted me to apply for the pharmacy role.
I am worried about changing to 5 days a week working from my current role of 3 days, Im not sure if it will be too much. Its a great opportunity. Please advise on what I should do. Thanks.
Go for it. If you don’t like it, keep searching. But worrying it might not be a good fit keeps you from learning if it is or not.
Change is good for your brain.
Pharmacy dispensary assistant, will keep you in motion and also you will get to see people. It would be really good in my opinion.
Do you have an option to go back to the old job if the new one doesn’t work out?
No I don’t think so but the current company I’m with usually has a few vacancies open. I suppose if I didn’t like it and couldn’t find anything else, I could rejoin them since I’ve been with them the past 8 years as I do have the experience.
The reason I applied for this was that my current job is physically draining for me and I cant see myself staying there till retirement anyway. The new job uses more of my brain.
I’m worried in case I have a bad day, as the new job requires me to have 100% concentration.
not sure tbh but i wish you well in discerning which job is best for you. If it was just the customer service thing i would say go for it, but the extra 2 days only you can decide if you have energy to take on that task. If yes great!
Good luck with whatever you decide.
It works out an extra 13 hours a week.
My current job is so much more strenuous. At least I wont be dashing about to the same extent, I’m exhausted when I get home.
The good thing is atm I leave the house at 7.15 am. But with the new job I can leave 8.30am. Plus I finish half hour earlier.
wow those sound like some great pro’s. I would probably take the slower pace one myself, but thats just me. The new one sounds really great. The old job appeals to me tho cause they say “if it aint broke dont fix it”
. If you hate your old job tho maybe its time for a change.
The old job is becoming a bit tedious for me.
I’ve been at the pharmacy and seen customers argue with the pharmacists/workers so be prepared for a little bit of that. Stuff like their insurance doesn’t cover the cost, or it’s too expensive, or it’s taking too long, just various complaints. One person didn’t want to wear a mask. When dealing with customers the things you’ll have to deal with are all over the emotional map.
i think you should go for it. it sounds like a nice job
Thank you all. I finally accepted the job offer, I start next month.
I am off 4 days a week with the old job and I’m finding I am getting bored on my days off.
So I feel I have made the right choice.
congratulations on the new job!
I say give it a shot. Good luck.
I think you should give the new job a shot. Don’t stay in a bad work environment.
