I have an interview for a new job

It’s at a community recreation center at the front desk.

The only thing I’m worried about is that my current job has been very understanding about drs appointments etc and is willing to work around all that for me.

I’d like the atmosphere better at the rec center but I’m being treated really well by my boss at the dollar store

I have no idea what I should do

First of all congrats on the interview!!

Second, the new job would have to accommodate you on dr appts though I think. Because of ADA rules and regulations. Isn’t that correct? I am sorry if not. I’ve been on ssdi for so long haven’t worked in so long. But I don’t think the new job can’t discriminate you based on your need for dr appts. You should be just fine. @LilyoftheValley

You don’t have to decide anything til after the interview.

You might not want the job

If you do and get an offer then you will have to decide on what to do

I’m not sure about ADA rules @anon90992146 . But I’ll look into them.

@Kxev the interview is Monday so I may have to decide very soon.

Is the pay of the new job better since you were concerned about your pay?

The new job is less money. It’s $11/hr, part time.

Okay. I do want to say that I’m proud that we have a new member who’s able to work.

Sounds like a lot of gives and takes in the decision

Not one easy obvious choice

I completely agree

If you feel good about your current job I would stick with it. You don’t know what you will get in a new job. Plus it will look good on your resume to stick at a job for a while.

But if the cons are too many with your current job, and you don’t see yourself beeing able to hack it in the long run, a new job is the right decision, if you think it will be easier on you that is.

@Mr_Hope , my current job is in an area with high racial tensions.

I deal with that stress every time I work.

I’m not sure if I will last long under that pressure as I tend to have a breaking point with stress.

I’ve had numerous nervous breakdowns in my life.

But the new job could have its own stressful issues.

That’s what makes this decision so hard.

So you narrowed down the decision to which job is the least stressful?

Yes @77nick77 . I’m hoping to find the least stressful so I can avoid a nervous breakdown

Yes, I can understand that. How will you determine if the other job is more or less stressful?

I have no idea. That’s what I’m trying to figure out

Oh OK. Maybe talk to some of the employees there to get an idea of what’s it’s like there.

I’m thinking about asking the interviewer to rate the job stress 1-10

That might be a bad idea in my opinion Coco. They might think you aren’t able to handle stressful situations during work if you ask them to rate it.

Regardless, good luck with everything and keep us updated.
