For a year now I have been having regular seizures. I have talked to some people online and it might not be a seizure, it might be a bad panic attack. The thing is I just don’t know. Every time I have these night time experiences, it feels like I am going to die. My friends told me that a seizure might cause brain bleeding and I can die. I will talk to some doctors about this in a few weeks, but nothing has really been said about this. The reason why I have these seizures is, because I stare at lights and it induces a bad effect when I sleep. Is there anybody that can give me some more information about this topic?
Can you explain what happens during your seizures? How do you make the connection between staring at lights and later having seizures when going to sleep?
Your doctor is going to be able to help you the most with this. What’s the reason for waiting a few weeks?
My head gets icy, I lose sensation in my body, and my movement is shaky. If you have epilepsy lights can trigger a seizure and my doctor will only be available in the future. luckily I will have a sleep study done in the future.
This sounds like it could be a panic attack, but your doctor will know better. I knew about flashing lights triggering seizures, but hadn’t heard anything about bright lights triggering seizures that happen later on.
From your description, I wouldn’t assume you’re having seizures, and I wouldn’t be concerned at this point about blood vessels bursting in your brain. Make an appointment and talk to your doctor about it, and try not to dwell on the idea that you’re dying.
This I already know, but thank you a million for reassuring me.
Flashing/strobe lights can cause seizures. It does sound like panic attacks. My husband used to get those, but once he started taking anti-anxiety medication he hasn’t anymore.
Temporal lobe epilepsy
You probably don’t have schizophrenia.
Why do you say that?
Because I’ve read about it and you sound like you have it. Go webmd it
Yep, my roommate has these exact symptoms and they are panic attacks. CBT also can help a great deal in handling them. Lying in bed, going icy cold and numb, and being suddenly convinced that you are dying = classic panic attack.
Seriously though, your doctor would know best.
I think @mortimermouse is barking up a pretty high %age diagnostic tree. The stuff you describe doesn’t really fit panic attacks (believe me =IIIIIII= know), and does seem much closer to the petit mal seizures that fit the description of TLE.
Use this to find a good neurologist in your area:
I have been having weird things I call seizures for eight years now. I have suffered a lot. Finally recently one doc had the bright idea of putting me on klonopin twice a day. Once at eight in the morning and once at eight at night. So far it has reduced the seizure like symptoms. I suggest you see a neurologist
Also, any GP or your regular doctor can order the tests.
My family member had EEG (to see if there were seizures), MRI, and blood tests early on in the diagnostic process that wound up a couple years later at sz. All the tests were ordered by a family doctor.
Have a calendar where you keep track of your symptoms and how often they happen. That will help you answer the doctor’s questions.
