She prescribed me Klonopin, 0.5mg twice a day.
She wants me to take them everyday.
I asked her if I can take as little as possible on an as needed basis, she reluctantly said yes.
I really am only going to take Klonopin if I start freaking out and I can’t calm down on my own otherwise I’m steering far away from them.
The truth is that benzos don’t really help me when I take them on a daily basis.
I don’t know why I agreed to take them in the first place.
Well she did tell me that I can take it as a prn but she just said that she prefers that I take it every day.
I really want to avoid taking it at all if I can help it.
I take that dose twice a day.
It keeps me from getting over stimulated.
The euphoric feeling goes away over time.
It’s not like xanax where people are popping them to get high.
But I can understand not wanting to take them everyday.
I wish I didn’t need it but I do…
BuSpar (buspirone) is another, non-addictive FDA-approved treatment for anxiety. Worked very well for me. A lot of the anxious people discount it because it doesn’t give them that benzo “feel-good” feeling. Might be worth asking about.
I can see why you’re concerned. I started on 4mg of diazepam, and a year later I was on 30mg a day. I managed to come off them without my doctors approval. I had horrible withdrawal and they didn’t help anymore which was why I wanted off them.
If I were you I’d fulfil the prescriptions and store them for an emergency. Sometimes you cannot get them when you really need them.
Sorry to hear that @Wave .I thought it would help you since you’ve already taken it.Thats small dose and maybe in time you will adjust.Wishing you all well buddy.
Gabapentin is another anxiety med that can be taken every day without the addiction problems of benzos. I am prescribed up to 300 mg 3x/day PRN, but I only take 100mg 1x/day. I occasionally take extra if I’m on the verge of a panic attack. As a side effect, it also increases my libido, which is kind of nice.
I dont think the pdoc is trying to get you addicted. My pdoc “accidentally” prescribed me ativan 2 mg x2 daily as well as clonazepam 2 mg x2 daily. Later i was admitted to the hospital after about 3 months of this and a nurse pointed out to me that that level of medication is dangerous for a host of reasons.
Luckily i didnt get withdrawals or feel addicted to them despite the high doses.
Oh its all good! Sorry i didnt pick up on the facetiousness, my bad. But its smart of you for restricting your benzo intake, never know what could happen when it comes to benzos
