School seems to be impossible for me

I am supposed to be in my second year of college right now. I feel like I’m doing so much better than I was, but I still cannot seem to go to school. I made it through three online classes during the summer semester, but it was just about one of the worst experiences ever. I constantly felt super anxious and at night would just sit in my room and feel totally overwhelmed and not know what to do, so I would just start crying and have trouble sleeping at night. Now it’s the beginning of a new semester, and I got that same horrible panicky feeling. I just dropped out of the online classes again. Most of me feels really happy and relieved, but I also feel worried that my family will be disappointed I didn’t try harder.

Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Or did you have trouble with school too?

I first attended college in 1984. I’m still plugging away for my AA degree. I took one class at a time until 1986 and I stopped. I returned in 1990 and took two classes at a time until 1995 and I stopped once again. I then started taking online classes in 2010. I need 5 more classes for my degree. Maybe this might help you. All we’ve got is time, right? They say, “Life is a marathon not a sprint”. I’m not advising anything, I’m just telling you what one person (me) did.

I got a 2 year degree by putting in an extreme amount of effort, the last two years are though to specific for my generalized mind, I can’t focus even on topics I care about. My mind jumps around and switches priorities in mid sentence. I have decided to go the route of social entrepreneur and study at my own pace. I accept that I can not study in a traditional way and must go my own way.

I don’t let the anxiety get to me too much. I come up with a plan even when I’m behind a bit. Now I have to read 2 chapters in 2 days. I knocked the 1st one out yesterday. This is all due to me not really asking for help buying my books. I budgeted for books with my student loan, but one turned out to be extra expensive. I only have to buy a calculator for my math, unless I can get my younger brother to send me his. Though he might have given it away already, because he’s in a fraternity.

You can just get an app on your mobile device or computer to do calculations for graphing functions or scientific anything just search for it.

Okay. Thank you. I got mine just in time on Ebay. I was relieved when I found out that I didn’t have to download anything extra for it.
