Schizophrenia and dating and marriage

A stat I found on the internet says 57% of schizophrenics get married and 13% stay married. 25% work. I’ve been in the 25% my whole life but am still not married at age 37. Anyone successfully married?

I have come close! Yikes

I was married to my first husband for 9 years but we got divorced when my illness became more severe in my late 20’s

I have been married to my second husband for 14 years now. We are very happy together.

It definitely helps that he understands my illness enough to be able to help me manage my symptoms.

I’ve been married for about 8 years. I will say, though, that my schizophrenia diagnosis was removed a couple years ago, and replaced with a diagnosis of a rare type of brain tumor. The symptoms are similar, but the treatment is different.

I was married for 7 years to a very emotionally disturbed woman

But during our marriage I was pretty unstable as well

Today I’m single and happily divorced

Married since 2000. Mostly successful, but it’s a bit rocky as of late. Have a grown daughter.

I was married to a real ■■■■■ for 17 years, she divorced me because I couldn’t work 80 hours a week anymore because of the illness. She had to go back to work and she was pissed.

I’m over this phase. I don’t see it happening. I’m honestly not in a spot to have a relationship. I missed that period in my life. I don’t expect to get married or have a social life.

Ya, I don’t work and I struggle just being me. I don’t need someone else. I struggle now.

It doesn’t really bother me anymore. Perhaps, it never did.

I’ve been happily married for 21 years. I was married to my first husband for two years. It wasn’t going to work under any circumstances.

I was married for 6 and a half, totally hellish years. Between my pedophile father and my sadistic ex husband, I trust absolutely no men now. I’ve been divorced for 37 years, and I intend to stay that way.

I have never been married, but I have had a lot of girlfriends. As Johnny Cash sings in the track “Thirteen:”

“Got a long line of heartache, I carry it well” :smirk:

And i guess i would be ready to be burnt again

I am happily working together at the moment with my second wife…my first wife I thought was forever but we were both delusional through the first half of the marriage and made some horrible finances decisions which ended in a huge bankruptcy. anyways…been together with my second wife for ten years and married for the last three of them. I’ve never been loved more by a woman than my second wife.

I’ve never been married…heck, I’ve never been in a sexual relationship at all…thank you sexual abuser at the age of 8. Can’t really say I’ve missed it, tho, I’m too screwed up to bring someone else into my drama.

Never been married.

Haven’t dated about close to a decade.

I’m 33.

Just not interested tbh.

My mental health is more important to me.

Don’t give up, man. You’re a decent guy and there is someone out there who will appreciate you.

I’m celibate. I have been single since birth, and I will remain single for the rest of my life.

I’m already an adult in my 20s. But, I’m still a virgin, haven’t been touched for the very first time, and it will never happen.

@shutterbug make time for each other, do things like talking with no distraction

I’m finding dating easier and easier. Took a bit of time to get used to the water :sweat_drops:
