Just had my Consta depot. The nurse would like to switch me to Paliperidone. Apparently with this mental health trust they prefer to use it rather than Consta.
I am wondering how others have got on switching from one to the other.
Isnt consta working…??? Sometime change is good… like myself i switch to rispridal from zyprexa… i could sleep nice…!!! Cuz i dont have positive symptoms… only cognitive and negative symptoms…they are severe… no med gonna affect it…!!! Thanks man…!!! Waiting for min 101 and few other…
yes made the switch from consta to invega sustenna a few years ago. Not that aps are great in general but felt awful on consta and I am not overeating like I did on consta since on invega. the other thing is that you would only have to get it every 28 days not every two weeks.
I was only on risperdal of a short time years ago as I have bad side effects. I went from latuda and fanapt to invega. The invega really helped me.
I was on Abilify and switched to paliperidone, i think Invega it’s a good med
I’ll be honest.
I switched from risperidone to Invega and I suffered strange side effects.
Paliperidone also wasnt as potent.
It didn’t help my positive symptoms like Risperidone did.
Everyone is different.
I’ve never been on riseridal but I have been on invega for quite some time, 12mg. I still got breakthrough symptoms and delusions I had to work on and battle myself, the meds didn’t help them.
Sorry I probably wasn’t much help but I wish you luck!
Consta works quite well though not for my primary issue which is social interaction difficulties.
It seems to be the policy of the mental health trust I am now under to have people on Paliperidone rather than Consta though.
This is interesting to me.
In Australia, doctors prescribe seroquel for depression and anxiety in high doses very frequently. I think they use it as an alternative to benzo treatment.
