I couldn’t quit cold turkey.

So I switched to vaping for a while. A long while.

Then I switched to lozenges. I had to use the highest strength lozenges I could get, as the lower strength ones were useless.

Then I quit lozenges.

Now I’m completely nicotine free.

None of this was easy peasy. A bit of willpower is required at each change.

Mints without nicotine will be useless.

I was on the gum, then I vaped, now I’m temporarily back to smoking tobacco.

It’s a crutch, it’s hard to quit but you can do it with strong will power.

Last time I quit I did it during a move. So change of scenery can help. Another time I quit but started again months after, I did it by stress vaping without nicotine for 3 weeks. But you should trade a bad habit for a good one. Else you might trade it for another bad one like binge eating which is common.

You can also make a bad habit unattractive and a good one attractive. Identify as a non smoker. Would recommend the book atomic habits by James Clear for more tips on making and breaking habits

Wish you the best and good luck quitting

I’ve been off the cigs for 23 months and the vape for 19 months. I used both the patch and nicotine gum at first, and i would chew cinnamon sticks cuz they felt like a cigarette in my mouth. Now i just chew nicotine gum and sometimes regular gum. My lung function has already improved and i haven’t had to do a breathing treatment since last summer. I have COPD so it was essential that i quit smoking.

I need to quit too. Its freaking tough. I quit a couple times but always go back.

Try getting some nictoine pouches like zyn, velo or on. They are cheaper than buying the gum or lozenges.

I didn’t manage before I bought a 20-pack, smoked one cigarette, then broke the others in half and threw them in the trash. Then I did the same thing one more time, and after that I quit. Treating cigarettes like trash helps. Also there was a psychology if I was going to throw them away, why buy them.
