Puppy acting different after boarding in kennel

I was away for a few days so I chose to board my puppy at the Vets office since he was on medication for diarrhea at the time.
I picked him up on Monday and noticed that he’s starting to eat his poop!
This can be normal behavior with some puppies but this is the first time he’s doing this!

Yep, this new habit occurred right after staying at the kennel

I’m not happy and now I’m going to to have to monitor and prevent him from eating his own poop.

It’s probably because he was cooped up in a small crate for long periods of time, leaving him sitting there among his own ■■■■.

He was also acting more aggressive with me playing (attacking) and biting me a little too hard when I tried to harness him up for his walk.

This is the last time I’m boarding him there.

Im really pissed off at them!

I read before that it’s common for dogs to eat other animals poop, not so much their own. I forget why.

I can’t tell you why he is eating his poop now. Maybe they were feeding him less or something. Maybe the stress of being left in an unfamiliar environment is affecting his behavior. I honestly have no idea.

Yeah I think he’s stressed out a bit
He’s starting to readjust being home again

Closed in small spaces can really affect animals.

I put my new kitten in a cat carrier the other day and the poor thing went ape ■■■■.

I think your pupper will be okay. Just keep spoiling your furbaby and it is okay to give them a little space if they need it.

I am sure your dog will readjust like you said. But if the poop eating continues you can get a supplement you put in his food which makes the poop taste awful so they stop

Yes I heard about this before
Something to consider

did he take anitbiotics? mine do this after antibiotics. its how they try to repolulate their microbiome with bacteria (dont allow him to do it tho). whether he took antibiotics or not it probably means that his microbiome is messed up. dogs do that when that happens. get him some probiotics for dogs. it should stop it. it will be good for the diarehha too.
this is the probiotic my vet recommended for mine.

My dog had actually got a bit calmer when I got him home from kennels the first time.

His stools are now normal plus his puppy food has prebiotics in it.

He seems to have stopped eating his poop for now, hopefully he’s done.

Thanks again @irrelevant!

good. if he keeps doing it or getting diareah def get him probiotics. they have helped my dogs so much. theyre kinda expensive but they go by weight. a puppy prob would need less than half a packet. i have to do it with mine.
