My dog eats his own poop to this day. There’s not much I can do. I just had to watch him closely when I take him outside on a leash.
Edit: His poop get picked up immediately when he goes.

Purina has forti flora for cats and for dogs. They come in different packaging although I’m not sure how the formulation differs.
I have both on hand to use since I have two cats and one dog. You can buy it over the counter at Petco. Petsmart. etc or order it online at Chewy.com or other online pet stores.
Thanks @Moonbeam
i have memories of my 2 late dogs doing this when they were young, but it was not frequent enough to ever become problems. not sure why, but if we caught them, we would say NO!
it happened only a handful of times
He’s no longer doing this
I’m so glad
But his diarrhea has returned ![]()
I understand your frustration. Puppies can develop new behaviors in stressful environments. Monitor him closely, redirect his attention, and consult your vet for advice on managing his aggression and poop-eating.
Thank you @Johnson_watson and welcome!
Like I said before I don’t think he’s eating his poop anymore but his stools are now soft again.
I’m transitioning him to a new food but I think that I’m moving a little too fast.
Going to slow it down
I stopped the new food because of diarrhea
Going back to his old prescription food
I don’t think that salmon agrees with him
My vet wants me to try giving my 6 month old puppy the adult formula of the Royal Canin French bulldog food?!?
I told her that my puppy developed diarrhea and an itchy skin on the puppy version of the same food?!?
This doesn’t make sense!
This food contains chicken which he might be allergic to and it’s the adult formula! For a puppy?!?
I’d switch to a different puppy kibble.
I feed my dogs Taste of the Wild limited ingredient diet.
I spoke to my vet and she said that my puppy can be on the Hills ID dog food long term
He does well on it
Most other foods give him diarrhea or regurgitation
