I am really anxious about my new puppy. I can’t stop worrying something might happen like I will drop the lead while I’m walking her and she will get run over or she will choke on her food (she raveshoshes her food down and already choked on it one day)
She also eats anything in site off the pathway like leaves and i am scared maybe she will get poisoned.
Can’t stop worrying about her. I don’t know how to settle my anxiety.
Dogs and cats eat stuff all the time. It passes or they yack it back up.
If it really bothers you wrap the end of the lead around your wrist so it cant be dropped.
Put the food bowl a stand so it is a few inches higher, tbough this is proba ly not needed.
If she is choking for real, just dig it out.
yes it is gross. but if you think she has had enough time to dislodge it by coughing,… then I guess just wash up well after.
I’m sorry that you are having a lot of anxiety with your new puppy, but this is normal to a certain degree.
Puppy Pugs love to eat anything on the ground, so be careful, but they can handle a lot.
Its just a phase and soon your Pug will be out of her chewing stage.
Make sure you give her lots of toys to occupy herself with.
@Qwerty my puppy also eats anything on the ground. I know your anxiety is overwhelming, but every time your pup tries to eat something off the ground, just pull on the leash and say “no”. Keep doing this until they stop.
My pup goes crazy when he sees leaves rolling on the ground. he pulls so hard to try and catch them, I literally get jerked forward everytime he does. He also loves staring blindly at birds.
Try to take them to a dog park so they can socialize. I hated doing this, but you don’t need to socialize if your anxiety is bad. The main thing people always ask me is “Your pup is cute, how old is he?” and that’s pretty much it. I answer and just carry on. Also, try to stay away from your pup because they’ll keep running to you because they’re shy.
Thanks @anon57786250 sometimes mine also stares blindly at things too.
We don’t have dog parks here in the U.K. that I know of but I do take her to the regular park and on walk paths. She is being well socialised and with other dogs too. She loves people children and other dogs.
My anxiety is overwhelming. Tonight I was almost melting down over whether or not I am feeding her the right daily amount for her weight and age fearing she is underweight and starving.
I am very glad I have her in my life and I can’t imagine it without her now. She is part of our family now. I wish I could get rid of my anxiety so I could fully enjoy the time I have with her.
@Moonbeam I am sorry you are also so anxious about your dog but relieved to hear I am not alone.
Thank you for those first aid websites.
As for the slow feeding bowls unfortunately due to the nose they won’t work but I did find this one however she still manages to eat it pretty quickly so I still may try one of the others. The vet said they can fit the tongue in anything. This is the bowl I have.
