How to break a Dog poop eating fetish?

I’ve tried everything to break my dog poop eating habit that he had since was a puppy, that last thing that I tired was a electric collar, I know quite controversial but it was recommend to me by my vet after she give up on using medications to breaks his habit. The electric collar didn’t work my dog was unfazed didn’t care about it one bit, I used the collar on myself to see weather it was defective, well turn out wasn’t I kind of like it. :smirk:

I made a thread here a long time ago about whether it is ethical to use a collar like that.

I ultimately decided to.

It was not effective.

What did work was a vibrating collar.

They get dog’s attention for some reason.

I think it’s because they can handle a little pain, but an odd sensation is very distracting.

I’d suggest that.

It was not effective for my dog because he was immune to electric shock because his fur was conductive, I’ve have tried vibrator built into the electric caller didn’t work either, though I do use the electric caller on myself when I feeling kinky. :smirk:

Can you cut the fur around the collar to make it work a little better?

vibrator get his attention the first time, he stop caring after couple uses.

Edit: he hook on that poop

My dog also haves toys that vibrate.

Can you get all the poop scooped up and thrown away?

Is this happening like in your backyard or something?

Have you looked into that your dog may lack some nutrients and vitamins that make them want to eat poo?

My vet looked in to that, my dog eat one the best dog foods money can buy due to having a stomach issues, my vet said he has nothing lacking of nutrient and vitamins.

Here’s the thing,

Dogs eat poop.

It’s a fact.

Cats come in my garden every night and leave little presents.

Every morning my dog runs as fast as he can to the garden to eat them.

There’s really nothing that can be done other than leash him.

I keep him up to date on his vaccinations and worm pills,

Discourage it when I can,

And that’s about it.

My dog like his own poop and cat poop, My dog almost die once from cat poop from infection because the stray cat was sick.

They say coffee grounds deter cats from pooping.

Maybe try that in the areas they favor.

If you don’t find a solution,

You’ll have to leash him.

Sometimes it is a sign they might have an intestinal parasite but if puppy got cleared by the vet then you are good. I’ve heard that adding canned pumpkin to the dog food, or feeding them a piece of pineapple a day makes their feces really awful tasting and will stop them from eating it. Also some dogs like the taste of cat food, so if they like munching cat food, they also like munching cat poop.

I mean, I like dogs but they are pretty silly creatures. The only breed I really am fond of are corgis, but I couldn’t own any what with the dictator cats running the house.
