Psychosis V schizophrenia

Psychosis V schizophrenia

psychosis has less stigma as a name IMO

I read that some people were trying to get schizophrenia renamed to psychosis disorder.

I think stigma is worse for personality disorders like psychopathy, antisocial personality disorder or multiple personality

people label that all sz @Aziz

I think all mental illnesses are stigmatized.

In Germany, we call und use them in this way: Psychosis is bigger in the name (not in serverness) than Schizophrenia, what make Psychosis (die Psychose) to a person much friendly, to handle a person with respect (for me, very important). The name Schizophrenia is more academic, what from it we can 100 percent handle the mental diease, like financials from state, like how shall the volks see the patients.

I agree Pedro theres too much stigma with the word schizophrenia and it needs changing.

I like what the Japanese have done, changing the name to Integration Disorder. Apparently its been successful in reducing stigma in that country.

Also ID makes more sense, because we struggle to integrate into society. What the hell is ‘split mind’ supposed to mean, i have no idea.

“psychotic disorder” already exists though right?

Good question. I’m not sure. I recall the word “paranoid” being dropped from “Schizophrenia” as a label. I know that Multiple Personality Disorder was changed to Dissociative Disorder.
