Prolactin Hormone?

I recently did a prolactin blood test and it turned out to be below normal range. Is this a good thing or a bad thing?

are you thin? there is supposedly a co-relation between prolactin and weight

No I’m obese level 2 actually!

interesting. i dont know how much it plays a role but ive heard that the higher your prolactin the worse your metabolism of fat is. dont know what the reverse, i.e. a lower prolactin level, does to your body though. are you female or male?

Male, 30 years old.

well then you shouldnt worry that much about it. prolactin is basically only good for females.

In fact, this article says it’s a problem, which could be the reason behind my low libido

k thats news to me. if you want a higher prolactin then consider a change of antipsychotics… xeplion/invega is known to raise the prolactin levels in patients.

No thank you! Well if you check the article above, low prolactin is related to high BMI. Could this be the reason? Cause I’m obese now?

perhaps. i am also obese now but my prolactin was fine. were you mostly obese throughout your life or have you only gained weight after the illness?

I was a fat kid (reached 125 KGs), then dropped to 70 by 17 of age, then gained it back after being diagnosed and medicated.

how was your sexuality as a teenager and young adult?

It’s nice discussing that in public

Well let’s say I was normal until I started taking anti-psychotics. Some APs I took caused total impotence. What I’m suffering from now is low sex drive and relatively softer erections. Could the low prolactin be causing this?

i am not sure. have you checked your testosterone also?

Yes it’s within normal

lower end, mid or higher end? mine was from a range of 2 to 7 at 2.5 for example (lower end).

It’s 6.51, and the ref. range is 1.3 - 7.7

wow thats amazing. you sound like some sort of manly man who has high testo and is low on the feminine hormone . yeah then there is likely to be a connection between the prolactin. it is also incredible that you get a higher end for your testosterone even though youre obese. it is well known that obese men have lower testosterone than thin men (the fat reduces it). are you doing any sports in your freetime recently? do you work?
