Pregnancy and antipsychotics

Just curious about second generation medication and pregnancy

Most APs aren’t recommended for pregnancy or breastfeeding.

Some are okay,

@LED had a baby and breastfed on Haldol.

It is possible.

I believe haldol and olanzapine are safe. @spiderpig took olanzapine when she was pregnant, I think. I know Geodon is not safe. It can cause limb deformity.

What meds are you on now?

Rispiridone currently

I would be worried more about overly high prolactin level. From my opinion if prolactin would goes much higher than for normal pregnancy levels, that child could be born too early or with some metabolism problems. Worth to mention this is my theory so this is just for a thought

I wouldn’t take that risk during pregnancy, but breastfeeding it says it’s probably compatible.

I had olanzapine whilst pregnant. I had to stay in for 48 hours after giving birth to make sure Oli didn’t have any withdrawals (he didn’t) also you can’t breast feed on olanzapine !
