The thing is my positive symptoms are pretty intense, I need to be placed on a potent atypical AP.
My doctor doesn’t like to prescribe the older typical Antipsychotics.

I was on Zyprexa for a couple of months, I think its slightly better regarding negative symptoms but not even close to Abilify.

My first medication was Risperdal and it was an absolute nightmare. I actually switched to Zyprexa from that with no real improvement.

I need to be on a potent AP because my paranoid delusions are way too intense.
My psychiatrist doesn’t like prescribing the first generation APs.
This leaves Risperdal, Zyprexa and Clozapine
The three powerhouse Atypicals.
I’m not about to go on Clozapine, too many side effects and blood tests.

I took Zyprexa (olanzapine) the second med I tried and it made me into a zombie
Then the fourth med I tried was risperidone and it was wonderful, I went into remission for several years
When I relapsed I resumed taking it but soon stopped as it was expensive.
Then as I ended up in hospital and needed an AP I was put on amisulpride which was also excellent.
I take it with olanzapine and I’ve discovered olanzapine works best for me in low dose alongside another med (in my case amisulpride and lamotrigine)

I talk to my psychiatrist in 2 weeks, I’ll see what she says but I really don’t think I’m going to remain on Risperdal.
I voted Zyprexa. For me Zyprexa and Risperdal caused smilar amount of weight on me, but my cognition was better when on Zyprexa.

I wasnt on zyprexa, just risperidone wasnt really effective for me. I often had panic-paranoid attacks and it caused my major depressive disorder. In the end i relapsed on risperidone depot and was hospitalized for 10 weeks. Also risperidone causes prolactin levels go crazy, there are plenty of cases men having proper boobs, also dry ejaculation is a big thing with risperidone

I gained a lot of weight on zyprexa and respiridone did not work for me …

Im on haldol depot 50.72 mg a month and quetiapine 200mg at night. I sleep like a baby and have energy during the day (like exercising and walking a lot). Also ejaculations returned and i dont have panic attacks anymore. A lot of people literally take a dump on typical APs but i found it as a life saver

Yeah I like Haldol, very effective med for me.
