Thankfully no.

I would hate to have someone else decide what I do with my money and give “permission “ to what I’m aloud to spend on.

I pay all my bills etc so I’m responsible enough.

I don’t have money saved up though.

Only for my rego and insurance that needs to be paid yearly and a couple hundred if my horse or dog need the vet to bad if they need surgery cause I can’t afford it.

I love :two_hearts: planning my finances for each fortnight etc

I can’t afford a holiday overseas with my boyfriend either plus I’m scared of getting psychotic.

This fortnight coming I hope to put aside for my car rego and insurance and also try saving for a facial treatment.
I want to save up for my boyfriends birthday in October too.
I want to give him $350 if I can otherwise $100 gold class movie voucher.

My friend is in debt and has a person decide what he is aloud to spend money on.
He smokes too.
I bought him a t shirt he loves and wears.
Sucks that he is in debt.
He deserves a better life and I hope things will get better for him soon.

I manage my own finances . I’m not brilliant at it , but I’m not in debt . It’s by far my best practical skill . Things like gas/electric/rent/internet/phone/credit card are paid by -

I’ve always taken care of my own finances though there were times I needed help or advice.

I’ve run up credit card debt several times n the thousands but something always happens like getting hack pay from SSDI that I paid off my debt. That’s happened a couple times. My dad never had a lot of money but at least twice he paid off several thousand dollars of my credit card debt with his own money. When he died I owed money and my dads life insurance took care of it.

Just 4 years ago I ran up my credit cards to about seven thousand dollars. I never thought I would be able to pay them down but I did some balance transfers to cards with 0% interest on transfers and gave my credit cards to my sister to keep and got free groceries for years and I paid off the entire balance about two years ago. Now I don’t owe any money and have a couple thousand bucks in the bank.

I thought credit cards were a necessity but now I learned I can get along fine without them.

But yeah, I’ve made many financial mistakes but I still manage my own money. Always have. And most of the time I do alright.

i’mm surprised i’m the only one so far that has a rep payee. i’m somewhat high functioning, and i know i’m in better shape than a lot of people who post here.

I made my Dad my authorized rep payee, but I still manage my own money anyhow. I plan to become my own payee when my dad retires.
I don’t like the idea knowing someone else has full control over my finances even if we are getting along.

The government said I had to have a payee when I received my Ssdi award letter, though I don’t know why. My drs all said they didn’t recommend it.

I control all the money! ALLLL THE MONEYYYY!!! $$$$$ :money_mouth_face:

I only had a shopaholic problem for like a one or two year period during my prodromal phase. I’m really good at saving these days.

The one and only time I had a representative payee, I found out from Social Security that the payee was stealing everybody’s money.

I never did find out if I was affected, how much they took, or if I could get it back.

I do NOT trust the payee system anymore.

I’ve never had a shopaholic problem anyway, thank goodness.
