I personally do not need it at this moment. But I think the churches indeed do a lot to help people with food insecurity.
I agree- they usually at least when I lived rough on the streets handed out food, water, and toiletries to us. It was welcomed by me.
Sorry to hear you lived on the streets, but happy to hear they helped you.
That was a long time ago. Iāll always remember it though because it made me even more grateful for what I have now.
It is good that you feel grateful now, because of these memories. I slept on the streets in a big city only for a couple of days, when I was abroad and robbed of everything. It made me see the world in a totally different light. I canāt imagine what it is like to live on the streets for a long period of time. Must be rough.
We are. And with my van at the shop i have no way to a food pantry. It sucks.
I just adapted. Even when i was working at a ski resort i was without housing and let me tell you that being out in the cold i would find any place i could to hunker down in. I remember trying the hallway doors of apartments one night to see if one was open and one was so I slept in the hallway that night. My guardian angels were watching over me that night.
Will answer later, kiddo coming home.
Just scraping by cant afford much
I think they did. It is strange how suddenly such basic things, like warmth, are suddenly so valuable to find. When many people donāt even think about it in their daily lives, it is a given for them.
Itās like food for so many people who donāt think much about it other than that they can get it anytime they want. There are so many people in the world who are struggling to find food to sustain themselves. For a good portion of people the basic needs of life are met abundantlyā¦and for a good portion of people the basic needs of life are hard to come by.
I can pretty much buy what i like. One week i will stock up on tins for example, then cleaning stuff and meat. Got 2 chest freezers so i buy in bulk.
I consider my self quite lucky. In years past it was a different matter, when i literally had £8 for the week. So im grateful.
This is a very good thread. I have to go now to get my injection but i wish you all the best. If you have a hungry stomach, no shelter, or not sufficient clothing may something great happen for you.
Yes. Im a alittle starved but i dont mind. I want to lose weight and gain control of my financial situation, as long as i have a roof and im not freezing. I dont mind being a little hungrier
Yeah I remember not being able to afford milk and having no food at home at all.
My mum would buy me some food when she visited back then many years ago.
Nowadays Iām blessed with food.
I have enough to eat beautiful every day.
I have a food pantry near by I used to go to.
You pay only $5 and get food.
Thankfully I havenāt needed to go to the pantry lately.
The pantry is a Christian organisation.
I believe emergency allotments are stopping for most states. You might want to do an online check for your state. Mine is ending in California.
yes it appears february is the last month we will receive extraā¦darnitā¦we are in trouble.
Iām sorry @jukebox . I keep hoping they do something at the last minute to extend it.
I probably canāt afford sirloin steak or other expensive cuts of meat, at least not on a regular basis, but I can pretty much get everything I want on my snap card. It probably wonāt remain like that. Weāve had a windfall of snap benefits because of inflation. Before we started getting extra food benefits I would have just almost enough to cover my grocery bill. At the end of the month I would have to buy some of the items I wanted with my own money. And this is eating primarily out of the freezer at the Dollar Tree. Thatās where I would get most of my protein. Some people think itās unhealthy to eat very much processed meat, but I am content to do it.
Damn. Iām sorry to hear that, jukebox. They will probably give you a cost of living raise on your snap benefits.
